Do we think the Texans keep Lamar Miller on the roster?
Re: Do we think the Texans keep Lamar Miller on the roster?
Texans fan here; no not this year. They didn't draft a RB in the draft and Foreman could be headed for PUP
Re: Do we think the Texans keep Lamar Miller on the roster?
Man I just don't see it. I think Miller stays.
Foreman had spurts where it looked like he could be the guy, but a ruptured Achilles is a BIG DEAL for running backs. Arian Foster is the only one to have come back from one, I believe.

Foreman actually ruptured his achilles, which is historically far worse for a player's future outlook than an ACL. I'm pretty sure a lot of players never come back from the injury at all, and the majority of them that do don't play at nearly the same level they did pre-injury.ericanadian wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 6:31 pm He'll stick around. Foreman was struggling up the middle and is coming back from an ACL. They still have that bum Alfred Blue on the roster, so it's not like they have depth.

I think Miller could be a nice player this year. Seems likely Foreman starts on the PUP and I doubt he would come back and just take over the back field this season.

Re: Do we think the Texans keep Lamar Miller on the roster?
Piling on with the Miller support. The Texans re-signed Alfred Blue to a 1-year $880k deal, which implies to me that they're comfortable going into 2018 with Miller/Foreman/Blue at RB (and Tyler Ervin too I guess?). The only way Miller gets cut is if they bring in someone like CJA, DeMarco, etc like Vcize said earlier, which I would be very surprised by.
Miller's tenure with the Texans so far has ranged from disappointing to simply acceptable, but regardless BOB and the coaching staff have seemed to like him the whole way through. I think if nothing else he's reliable. If Watson stays solid and Foreman is <100% when the season starts, Miller could be a very intriguing RB to buy given his cheap price.

Re: Do we think the Texans keep Lamar Miller on the roster?
Was destined to be cut until that Achilles injury to Foreman. Now the Texans get another year of average RB play. For fantasy purposes Miller showed some high variance while Watson was at QB so he is a sneaky value IMO.
As for Foreman, highly unlikely he becomes significant now with an Achilles injury as someone previously mentioned nobody really comes back from it, at least at RB. However, another former Texans RB, Arian Foster, did make a recovery and was very fantasy relevant after, so maybe Houston has the magic touch.

Re: Do we think the Texans keep Lamar Miller on the roster?
A pretty heavy RB with quick feet was his claim to fame coming out of college. People were impressed he got down in the 230's for the combine. Now with one bad wheel, hasn't been able to work out to the fullest. Probably ballooned back up to 250 pounds (but the team won't say anything about that). Hope he doesn't snap the other achilles or get another injury compensating for the first one. Probably will have clean up procedures every off-season to clear out scar tissue. If he makes it back fully, I'd be impressed. At least the lack of competition is a good sign.

x2 there is a zero percent chance HOU cuts Miller this offseason.

Re: Do we think the Texans keep Lamar Miller on the roster?
Miller doen't really do it for me, whether it's the beer or the player. 2017s yardage is basically the same as his 2015 season, but he needed 40 more carries to acheive it. Even when Watson was leading the charge his numbers were mostly pedestrian but he did have 2 games eclipsing 20 fantasy points thru 8 weeks. He closed out the season with single digit performances fantasy wise.
If you're looking for a steady 11 points a week he's your man.
The Texans should cut him and snag CJA on a 2 year deal, and plan on drafting their RB next year.

I loved Foreman as a RB prospect but I do not share the collective obsession over hating Lamar Miller.

Re: Do we think the Texans keep Lamar Miller on the roster?
I didn't love Foreman as a prospect but I agree with not understanding why Miller is viewed as dead weight. He hasn't been great in HOU but HOU isn't great either. I think if that offense comes together a little this year he could have a decent season.
Houston gains nothing by cutting him but some cap space and CLE took Chubb with the biggest HOU cap hit

Re: Do we think the Texans keep Lamar Miller on the roster?
He was still the RB16 in PPR last year which is respectable enough that he should have value.
He has not had a lot of opportunity - and actually had only 3 rushing touchdowns last year.
With Watson back next year I expect this to be a higher scoring offense which is obviously great for Miller. I think a RB2 year is a reasonable expectation in 2018.

23 games played with Osweiler, Savage, TJ Yates - 12.3 FP/PG
7 games played with Watson - 14.9 FP/PG
with a sorry OL
Watson should be back and 3 new starters on the line. 15ppg would have made him the RB8 last year.

Yes. Foreman's rookie year wasn't good, even putting aside the injury. He performed a bit worse than replacement-level.Pew Dogs wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 4:51 am It looks like he graded a lot higher than Foreman, and #22 overall, which is not horrible.

Miller was 'okay'. Neither a difference-maker nor a liability.
The above poster is likely right, though, in that if Watson transforms the offense the same way he did last year, then a starting running-back averaging 17 touches a week should benefit.
