player vs player- Dez vs CJA

Postby Pullo Vision » Tue Apr 17, 2018 8:38 pm

In a dynasty league, who would you prefer to roster, Dez Bryant or CJ Anderson? Both are clearly among the top FAs after they were cut within the past week, a month after free agency started. I imagine people could try to answer based on league set up and settings, but I'm curious who people think will be more startable this year, and maintain usefulness into the future. Will people focus on the WR vs RB thing, on Dez's 3 year production rut, the apparent glut of FA RBs, or something else?
League #1- 14 tm ppr, 1Q, 2R, 3W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1K

League #2- 12 team PPR, 1Q, 1R, 2W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1 W/R/T, 1 Def

League #3- 12 tm PPR, 1Q, 0R (yes, ZERO RB) 3W, 1T, 2 R/W/T flex, 1 Def

I'd much rather have Dez. I don't see CJA going anywhere and being the starter. Dez will still start, even if it's as a team's WR2 and will have more games where he produces fantasy relevant games.

I'm by no means a Dez apologist at this point of his career but I've never seen CJA as anything more than an average talent. Big gap.

I have never liked Dez as much as most...and I don't hate CJA like many seem to, but I still take Dez pretty easily here unless it's a point per carry league or something. I do think CJA is better than Drake, and as much as I love Gore, at this point better than Gore as well. If CJA ends up with Gase again, in some sort of a point per touch league, I'd take him over Dez.

Im confident that I would rather have Dez over CJA at every single point over the course of each's respective career (barring injury or severe late-career regressions ala Andrew Johnson)

in all reality andrew johnson was impeached mid term less than 2 years into his career as president ! so really mid career regression

need a 3rd option - sebastian janikowski for kicker eligible leagues seems more appealing than dez or cj if you intend on contending this season !

Hmmm. I own very few shares of either. I've never really been a huge supporter, fan, or owner of either. I'm wondering who chose CJA over Dez and I'd be very interested in an explanation. Recently, I've found myself in a way, defending these two players in different threads. Primarily because I'm responding to what I think are irrational conclusions not because I'm an owner or somehow biased or hopeful that their production would help me in some way.

I'm assuming it's a non-ppr league with equal RB/WR requirements. That sort of set-up greatly devalues WRs compared to RBs simply due to RB scarcity (both more required RBs and the non-ppr format). I could see the argument for taking the chance on Anderson in a league like that...with how many viable WRs there are available.

He’s not going to Miami. The Dolphins pulled out of a trade for him for a reason & if they wanted him, they would have signed him already. They are committed to a Drake / Gore backfield.

The draft is barely over a week away...
Anderson will get picked up by someone after the draft. It could still very well be the Dolphins. If I were Dolphins management group, I'd let the draft play out first, I think. Maybe some RB they really like falls to the 4th round into their laps or something.

Struggling to see why this is relevant ... he just got cut; he’s not going to command big guaranteed $$. Dolphins could lock him up with minimal downside if they choose Drake (or even Gore) to be the lead RB.
