Orleans Darkwa
Had a decent year last year and broke out week 17 with a huge week. Is a UFA, and have not heard a peep about him. Anybody heard anything about Darkwa?

Re: Orleans Darkwa
This one has me kind of surprised. I thought there would have at least been some type of news but there has been zero. Haven’t even heard any rumors of potential spots.

Re: Orleans Darkwa
He's pretty much a zero. I'd equate him to Damien Williams (before signing with KC), Frank Gore, Alfred Blue, Jonathan Stewart (at this stage in the game), Chris Ivory, etc.
Could sign into being part of a rotation again, and be a desperation flex MAYBE, or maybe he signs with the Rams or Cardinals and can be a sort of good handcuff, but he's not worth any draft pick really, IMHO.

Re: Orleans Darkwa
My guess is he ends up back in New York once they decide that they have bigger needs than Barkley. With them moving JPP, maybe they grab Chubb at number two and bring Darkwa back to be part of that nightmare backfield again.

Re: Orleans Darkwa
I would guess this is as close to correct as possible. Which brings me to the question-- Why are the Giants so resistant to a competitive run game??ericanadian wrote: ↑Sun Mar 25, 2018 9:04 am My guess is he ends up back in New York once they decide that they have bigger needs than Barkley. Could definitely see this as a very likely possibility.ericanadian wrote: ↑Sun Mar 25, 2018 9:04 am My guess is he ends up back in New York once they decide that they have bigger needs than Barkley. J. Stew & him are redundant backs unless Darkwa is a special teams demon.

Re: Orleans Darkwa
Surely he's deserving of an NFL roster spot after last year, though? Strange. I own him on a deep roster so I am holding for now. Just odd that nobody has signed him, especially after his week 17 performance.

I am perplexed. 26 years old coming off a good season. While the likes of JStew are getting signed, it's amazing Darkwa isn't signed. I'm holding on to him, but I'm not enthusiastic about where he ends up at this point.

Re: Orleans Darkwa
He's the epitome of a role player. He is not special, in any way. Now, are there places in the league for guys like him, and Rob Kelley, and Mike Tolbert, and latter-day Frank Gore? Absolutely! But they're rarely fantasy relevant. Coaches love them because they follow the play, they hit their assignments, etc, but it's not that hard to find a guy like that in the 6th round of a draft, or to sign one in June for the vet minimum.dynastyaggie wrote: ↑Sun Mar 25, 2018 10:36 am I am perplexed. 26 years old coming off a good season. Re: Orleans Darkwa
No clue what team he'll end up on but I think he'll be a RB3/4 again. He has talent and he'll get backup work somewhere. With an injury he still could be a plug and play RB2.
Re: Orleans Darkwa
Agreed. Darkwa is a replacement level player. Dime a dozen. Feel lucky if you can ever confidently start him.lukkynumber13 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 25, 2018 11:11 amHe's the epitome of a role player. Re: Orleans Darkwa
Not to hijack, but another guy I've been curious about is Alfred Morris. Sure he's somewhat one dimensional in that he can't catch, but he's not horrible. FA and I would think he'd prefer to at least have a shot at number two in the rotation as opposed to resigning with the Cowboys. Or he could just retire and ride off into the sunset in his Mazda 626...
(if he's as smart with his money in other aspect of his life as with that car, he should be set.)

cause the last guy they drafted high broke his damn neck in his rookie year. Re: Orleans Darkwa
Morris would be solid depth behind McKinnon. He knows the system and has had success in it. With some of these older guys, I think they often hold out until someone goes down in training camp and they have a little more leverage (and a little less training camp)UnsafeAtAnySpd wrote: ↑Sun Mar 25, 2018 10:16 pm Not to hijack, but another guy I've been curious about is Alfred Morris.
