Read my initial suggestion. There needs to be a rule that recruitment for leagues should not be done via PM and the site should dissociate itself with this particular user. I originally thought he had some affiliation with moderators bc of his antics.

Having a very slight experience with forums and the like, without turning off PMs together this would be impossible to enforce.

I do not think that DLF should have to actively police it; however if something arises they should not look the other way or even worse, erase the awareness of a potential issue.

A lot of newer dynasty players stumble their way onto the site and are not aware of history or prior events. Their initial claim that the post had done its job is nonsense to be perfectly honest. I too received PMs from Coog but never joined since I simply do not trust him - new members will be absolutely clueless and if it happens to them here it could potentially drive them away from DLF.

Life gets crazy, I don't check the forums as often for a short while, and all hell breaks loose :surprised:

Yeah, it was pretty crazy there for about 36 hours _yeti.

This might not have blown-up as much as it did if we were all busy running our dynasty teams. But we're not, so...

My view as someone who enjoys this site but rarely posts: I am not at all surprised that Coogan would be a lousy, untrustworthy commissioner or even a thief. What I am surprised by is that anyone who has read his posts since he joined this forum would join a league that he was the commissioner of. He all but told us all what kind of person he is with all of his posts and I think this site would be better if he stayed away.

My suggestion isn't to eliminate PMs for anyone except Coogan. That said, how many of you even use the PM feature? The rule would be that paid dynasty leagues cannot be created through PMs, which seems like a pretty agreed upon principle. Obviously difficult to enforce, but join at your own risk.

If you can block PMs for one person, you can individually block for particular users.

Fair enough, but let's think in terms of practicality. Even if they keep the thread up, it inevitably moves to other pages and some users miss it. So leaving it up is only a stopgap solution, and it doesn't eliminate his recruitment methods.

Should we sticky the thread? If we stickied every thread where this question arose, we might have to move to page 2 to read analysis. Also, there is the issue of personal attacks. Even if this guy is the worst human in the world, the allegations cannot be verified and the site shouldn't have to take a stance beyond preventing future defraudment. (Especially since this happened on another site)

What the crap, eliminating PMs? I sent a PM to try to find out what is happening. Regardless of this event, making the forum have less ability to communicate is not the answer to anything.

I think we just ban Coogan and ban his IP. That’s much better than any proposed solution I’ve heard.
