I know it's early but let's speculate!

They need to get him better weapons in the passing game and the o-line needs to play more like the 2016 line. As good as the line was last year, Dak was just getting killed out there this year in several of the games I watched. Barely had time to throw or even take off and run like he does so well when he has good protection. He's still very young and raw. I think expectations were enormous for a second year player, so I still expect improvement out of him.

That depends on what you are asking exactly ...

Are you asking "Will Dak Prescott be a QB1?" OR "CAN Dak Prescott be a QB1?" in 2018.

I think most experienced owners by now know that the # of QBs that CAN be QB1s is greater than 12 (or 14 or 16 depending on your league size). After all in this year alone Alex Smith, Blake Bortles & Case Keenum all put up QB1 production, or came close, depending on your league scoring format. If Alex Smith finishing in or around as QB2 doesnt convince an owner that ANY QB who plays the whole season in the right set of circumstances, can be a top 12 QB, nothing ever well.

Whether or not they are QB1-12 in any given year will depend on plenty of variables, many of which are almost impossible to predict this far out from 2018. However I dont think anything has really changed to suggest that Dak Prescott doesnt have the ability to produce QB1 numbers, considering he was borderline QB1 this year.

I don't think he can be or will be. I think he needs time to develop and to take more risks and use his best players more effectively. Regardless of what we think about Dez, Dez is far and away the best WR on that team and Daks inability to recognize that, or use him effectively, is troubling.

I'd be happy with Dak as my best QB option. Rough year, but I'm not too worried yet.

agree...dak is a fine qb to own. not somebody that id be going out of my way to land. if i could sell for something that i liked...i would. qb's just dont matter much to me unless your at the high end...and i dont think dak was ever destined to be there.

How is this even a question? Even with Zeke being out this year he finished as the QB10 in my league, and last year he was the QB6. If you look at just weeks 1-9 (with Zeke) he was the QB4.

Dak had a bad last month, absolutely. But he's proven that he is a top 10-12 QB. If you're in a league with 6pt passing TD's he's probably lower, but he gets a lot of extra points with his rushing TD's.

Dak doesn’t do anything that I see as special, rather is a game manager who has been getting a boost through his legs. He’s done enough to maintain a starter in the league, but he better keep developing or he will fall into the ‘okay, but very average’ territory Alex Smith has always held. He has not had the look of difference-maker.

Specific to 2018, yes, Dak can be a QB1 though. Hard to argue otherwise given the past two seasons, but it is beyond 2018 where you start to wonder what his true Ceiling is and whether that’s enough to warrant the big second contract he’d want for what is essentially a game manager.

If he sneaks in 2,3 TDs and runs some Yds he will be a QB1 IMO.

Real football.... I don't think he is a top 10 at this time.

Fantasy... I definitely think he is squarely a top 10 guy. He was QB3 in my leagues before Zeke went out and Zeke isn't suspended next year (yet). Don't overthink this one. He's not going to be Brady/Brees but he runs that RPO better than most in the league. Very effective.

In terms of fantasy football he has been pretty comparable to Russell wilsons first two seasons in the NFL. Wilson scored 18.9 and 18.6 vs Dak 18.9 and 18.3...3rd season Wilson jumped up to 21.4 and then 22.4 in his 4th. I am not saying Dak is the new Wilson, but I do expect Dak to improve in his 3rd season. I think most would feel comfortable drafting Wilson as a top 3-5 QB in terms of dynasty and Dak being in the top 10-12 moving forward is more than doable.

Dak had a very successful rookie season and was looking to have a tremendous second season in terms of fantasy until having some O-line issues and losing zeke to suspension. Some of this is also on Dak as he needs to get more comfortable with the deep ball. I feel pretty good that Dak will bounce back next year and have the potential to score 19-21 ppg which is solid for fantasy purposes.
