These games are important for those fringe players trying to make teams but as a fan the games are unwatchable for me. The best part about this time of year is watching the overreaction of owners making moves based on preseason action. It can be quite entertaining.

Week 3 is generally the unveiling of the starters for the regular season. Outside of that, I largely agree.

You are right that for the most part preseason isn't worth much, but there are always exceptions to the rule. I'm sure people who picked up the no-name Victor Cruz after he blew up preseason were happy with the return.

It's low percentage, but if you know what to look for and you get in cheap it could pay off nicely. I just picked up Rico Gathers for blind bid dollars in my extremely TE friendly league. That is an investment that is worth allowing to mature for a year or 2 at almost no cost.

It was a collective of information. There hasn't been so much as a murmur about Rico Gathers this off season from the organization. No indication that he has any significant role with the team. So he could have looked like Gronk last night on the field but ultimately unless there is a building buzz saying he's pushing for a starting job, etc...he's amount to little more than preseason hype.

Not arguing there is alot of hype, but sometimes you can buy and sell hype if you are active. I thought I had heard about Rico from the team earlier, but either way, it doesn't matter if you can grab him for free and flip him for something you like better or even late round picks from hype happy teams. Not saying you need to watch preseason but making an argument to be involved or aware of hype or preseason performances

I should clarify that I watch preseason football just for the game not so much to scout talent. I do agree with Skip that many owners take preseason results as real, and that really helps me out in leagues that draft late since those owners have crazy rankings after a few preseason games.

Also agree with and often do what SteveMaddenShoes said; use the hype to my advantage to buy and move hyped players for solid roster depth.

There has been some good hype about Rico coming out of Cowboys camp. He was on my radar. Last nights game just solidified it for me because i got to watch him move with my own eyes. He moves really well for a man his size and his hands looked good. He is still a work in progress obviously, just playing football for a year. I'm willing to pick him up for almost no cost and stash him for a year and see if he produces something this year or next.
