I also think Waldman is starting to influence value in the community, guys he likes seem to increase in value. We don't like to admit it, but I see it everywhere.

It's kind of like when Silva makes a comment in his weekly match-up column, the guy becomes the biggest weekly add ..

This is exactly it.

Marvin Jones

Sell high? I feel the Lions have a ton of weapons and they're very comparable to the Saints a few years ago where the only true consistent fantasy starter each week is the QB. With the stats for the Lion's game Sunday is this a dowhill trend for Jones that we should sell high on now?

Jones will have more big games. He was overdue for a few duds. If you can get good value, it's worth considering, but he's still the clear #1 in Detroit.

I see MJ as a WR10-WR20 for the next few years. I would sell him at that value if you can get it. You are correct that he will have up and down games because of all the other weapons on the team but thats the same with every player in the NFL. Nobody is immune to bad games. Odell and Julio have had 30+ point games and <5 point games this season.

Golden Tate is staying on the team for another few years also because of his contract so what you see now is probably what you'll get over the next 3 years.

MJ is in the "prime" of his career right now at age 26 but this is also the first time hes been a featured WR so it's hard to tell if he will keep going up or if he will level off.

This is the perfect time to buy, not sell, imo.

Outside of Week 2 and 3, he's been very pedestrian. Nice floor for sure, but he's being overvalued right now with that 200 yard game inflating his numbers.

I sold him for Jimmy Graham because I needed a TE bad so if you can do that go for it.
I may or may not be related to Bryan Edwards

He had 10 yards last week.

Add to that the Lions have a 3 week stretch with the bye and 2 games vs the Vikings coming up. The time to buy will be during or just at the tail end of that stretch.

Marvin Jones' Value

Postby jr00027 » Thu Nov 10, 2016 4:05 pm

Hi all,

Just putting out this though bubble. Recently a league mate of mine floated Marvin Jones around for trade, without much success.
He's pretty clearly a buy low candidate, but would you pay an early second for him?
If it was a late second, would you be more inclined?
How do people see his value for the rest of the year?

I'd definitely pay an early 2nd. I think he's easily worth a 1st...young, high volume playmaker.

I just acquired Jones, but previously I certainly viewed him worth a first. Nice contract, he's produced, showcased a high ceiling and redzone threat ability. He's basically had two bad games in a row (with one being against MN), with a number of good, fantasy relevant games. It''s a pass happy offense with a QB who can chuck it along with a decent complimentary WR in Tate to split the coverage with. Not sure how he'd be considered a buy low after two subpar games.

How is Jones a buy-low candidate? Because of a few down games? He's still WR15 right now in PPR.

If I owned Jones, there's no way I'd sell him for a 2nd. If you can get him for that, then you should jump on it. He's still only 26, he's looked good in games and he's in a pretty good offense with an improved Stafford and J.B. Cooter as OC. He should be penciled in as a high-end WR2 for the next few years, who can give you matchup dependent WR1 numbers.

Because dynasty owners have the memory of a goldfish.

Or more correctly there are far too many redraft owners running dynasty teams.
