Am I the only one who thinks it's odd that they even found the weed? Why were they searched at all over a 74mph in a 60 ticket?

Having Josh Gordon in the car constitutes probable cause IMO ;)

Exactly!

I'm guessing more of the story is yet to come (i.e. the officer smelled the weed, paraphernalia was sitting on the floorboard, etc.).

EAK INC - Assuming Gordon stopped smoking because the NFL hasn't caught him is not a very good assumption, IMO.

lucky you. My league only allows players that are actually on IR to be placed in "our IR" spots. so he's gonna be burning a regular roster spot for me for god knows how long....
I think its dumb that leagues allow suspended players to be on IR. I have to decide whether or not burning an extremely valuable roster spot on an extremely talented idiot named Daryl Washington is worth my time. You should have to do the same with Gordon.

IR does not mean suspended. I'd be very upset if I was in your league.
Harsh..but...it works for us..I suppose. We allow two IR spots for the "unforseeable". Every owner is allowed to use those two spots as they see fit. Whether it be for injury or suspension. At the end of the year, everyone comes off, injured or not. We all receive the same privilege. Maybe not your cup of tea, but again, it works for our 12! I'm sure there are lots of "different" things out there that I find "dumb" but to each their own. You know?

Hahaha! Sorry. Didn't mean to be so harsh. The very salty Daryl Washington owner in me came out. I wish I could IR him. Lol

Smelling marijuana is probable cause.

And for all we know that car looked like a hotbox when they opened the window

I hear you about Washington. I thought I just saw that his year long suspension is drug related. Cant see how Gordon is not gone at least that long. I would gladly trade in those IR spots for a clean-lunged Gordon.

I think it is a story. He's currently appealing what is believed to be a 16-game suspension, on what grounds we don't know. However, when he's having his appeals hearing and it's brought up that, "Just recently you were cited for speeding, and your passenger was cited for possession of marijuana." That's not going to look good for him as it could be inferred that Gordon may also have been enjoying some herb. The NFL isn't a court of law, It's The Commissioner's Court, with checks and balances via the NFLPA.

Additionally, I'm guessing that Gordon is still being regularly tested so we'll know sooner or later if he fails again. At the very least perception is reality (at least for fantasy football purposes) and right now this news has to hurt his value. He's still not showing good judgement and that's the story.
The report never said anyone was smoking the marijuana. It was found in a blue bag. Also, Gordon is most likely still gettig drug tested a lot every month so if he was smoking the nfl would know and wouldn't need to make an assumption.
The only reason they would have found the weed in the first place was if there had been a probable cause search (i.e. their car was rank with stank). If they'd been giving off that "new car smell" there wouldn't have been a search for 14 mph over. And yes (bolded) is what I'm saying. Totally agree with you about the need for assumptions.
