Feelings on Matt Jones?

I'm considering moving Matt Jones. I have him with a very favorable contract and he's extendable. I'm personally a non-believer long term.

How does everyone feel about him going forward? Is he currently at max value? Does anyone think he has staying power? If you are trading him what are you looking for in return (draft pick wise), and if you are trading for him what are you willing to give up to get him?

Thanks.

Move him before another back eats into his load too much

This. He is not involved enough in the passing game to sustain if Kelley and eventually Marshall are going to chip into his workload.

I sold him before the season started for a 2017 1st, but I'm not sure you'll get that much value now. I'd look for something like 2 2nd's for him.

I just traded Antonio Gates for him, I feel like it was a worthy lottery ticket, as I don't see Gates being much of an asset beyond this year (Yes, I know we have been saying that for the past 4 years) and Gates was my TE3 anyway right now.

I feel like Jones has the ability to possibly resurface in another sutuation or even in Washington, if Kelley were to go down or fall out of favor with Gruden.

What are your thoughts?

It's not terrible, and he's worth a lotto ticket. Personally I've never liked Jones, as he's always looked more like an athlete than a RB to me. He's got terrible vision, pass pro, ball protection, and just an overall bad feel for the position. It reminds me a little bit of how Knile Davis was early in his career. He might turn it on eventually, but i'm not counting on it. Either way, Gates is probably gone soon so he's not a bad lotto ticket. Maybe he has a couple more good games and you can sell him for a profit.

I believe I can deal him for the 32-40 pick in the 2017 rookie draft. Is he a hold or hurry and deal for a pick in that range?

If you're in an IDP league I think that's probably worth it. But if you're talking 32-40 range of offensive only, I'll take Matt Jones all day long.

I definitely expect Jones to get his opportunity back. The numbers were there and he seemed to have lost his job without much reasoning behind it.

He is done in Was. They will draft a back in the upcoming draft.

I still don't get it. Jones was running well this year, on pace for 1100 yards and averaging almost 5 yards per carry. He had a couple fumbles and boom, he's done?

Matt Jones and Rob Kelley had the same YPC coming into this week. Rob Kelley doesn't have a fumbling problem and is probably a better between the tackles runner, hence the reason he's playing and Matt Jones isn't. There is no mystery here.

Rob Kelly had 14 carries for 37 yards and contributed 2 catches for 5 yards through the air.
I would think if there was a window of opportunity for Matt Jones, this next week might be it.
It's just tough with the NFL rules on active players. They get 53 active on their roster but then 45 on game day. When injuries crop up or depth or whatever, Matt Jones AND Kelley does not play on special teams. So when deciding who is active or not, it's hard to get both on the active game day roster.
I believe Chris Thompson plays on special teams and I think Ryan Grant does as well.
So it really needs to be a major drop in play for Kelley, probably for 2 weeks or more in a row, or an injury unfortunately

Jones' fumbling "problems" are grossly overstated.

The Redskins get to see Jones in practice, in the film room, and during games. They saw him all preseason, throughout OTAs, and last season as well. What did all this tell them? They don't want him as the starter. Simple.
