Pre Season Stock Watch: Risers and Fallers
Re: Pre Season Stock Watch: Risers and Fallers
Agreed on Bell and Smelter. I like them as prospects but it's becoming harder to like their pro potential when everything we hear is negative.

Re: Pre Season Stock Watch: Risers and Fallers
The transition to WR seems to be going as well as could be hoped for Terrelle Pryor. He's still a long shot in a messy situation with questionable QB play.
But just from a stock perspective, he's a penny stock that gained some traction.

Re: Pre Season Stock Watch: Risers and Fallers
Some guys from Friday night's games:
Terelle Pryor up. He actually looked like he could play some wide receiver last night. Coming along faster than I expected in that regard - adjusting to ball in mid-air and being where he needs to be when needs to be there are things I thought would take another year or two.
David Johnson even. He looked fantastic but multiple backs were fairly heavily involved. Chris Johnson came in in the red zone. Could cap his upside this year.
Michael Crabtree up. Continues to be undervalued.
Marvin Jones up. Nothing but positive reports, did well with limited opportunity last night.
Jesse James up. Mostly by way of...
Ladarius Green down. Whether it's the ankle or the concussions, both injuries should be in the rear view by now.
Jeff Janis down. Needed to prove himself and now a broken bone in his hand.
Rueben Randle down. All this guy has is opportunity and all he does with it is not give full effort.

Anyone cutting bait on Janis?
I'm starting to think there might be an opportunity cost to holding him.

Re: Pre Season Stock Watch: Risers and Fallers
I'm on the fence with Janis where I own him. Depends on my team composition and the format. I do own Abbrederis in the same places I own Janis, though, so I feel I've mitigated my opportunity cost / losses if I do move from Janis as I still have a horse in the race.

Re: Pre Season Stock Watch: Risers and Fallers
I just cut him this morning. Granted I'm in a 10 team league, but I figure that if someone wants him now he'll be a cut casualty during the season and I can keep an eye on him. Picked up Charles Johnson to replace him.mullmania wrote:Anyone cutting bait on Janis?

Dez. Two circus catches in under a quarter. The window to buy low may be closed.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Stock up: Nick Chubb
Videos have come out showing him going through drills and I've read that he's participated in full-contact team work. Whether he comes all the way back is a big swing point in the valuation of 2017 firsts. Early signs seem promising.

Up
Malcolm Mitchell
Prescott
Higbee
Ware - confirmed ahead of West. sneaky RB3 appeal that nobody seems to realize.
Michael Thomas - I still dont like his tape, but cant ignore the buzz around him
Derrick Henry
Melvin Gordon - nobody has any idea what kind of line he'll put up this year. even just a decent few plays is enough to toggle his volatile value.
Hunter Henry - On record as saying a lot of two TE sets this year, and Stevie Injury solidifies that even more. Pro ready. Will stay on the field as he is a good blocker, and Whis wants to get the run game going.
Pryor
Ty Montgomery - had no idea where he was health wise, and then checks in with the 2's.
CMike
Down
Mike Thomas (Rams) Drop issues and seems to have some Ochocinco in him. (play style and personality)
Josh Ferguson - not usual for me to knock someone after one preseason game, but his faults seemed pretty much confirmed.
Goff - kinda seems like he has never had to work for anything. this is my professional opinion after one episode of hard knocks.
Smelter - unfortunate
Green - super unfortunate
Janis
Prosise - must compete to play under Carroll.
Smallwood - only a little. he needs to play. is over his quad injury and back at practice.
Team USA basketball - Klay, can you please hit a friggin shot. We'd be better with Kyle Korver out there.

Re: Pre Season Stock Watch: Risers and Fallers
Goff had a rough game, but he's going to be a good QB. He's very similar to Matt Ryan. He can make all the throws you want and just has a natural feel in the pocket. His ball placement ability is very special. He gets it into those tight windows consistently. I wouldn't give him an artificial stock drop because of a rough 1st outing. Over time, I think he has the ability to transform that offense.
Re: Pre Season Stock Watch: Risers and Fallers
Factor in Goff suffered two drops and was hit while throwing the interception and his stat line changes drastically with a little better luck.

Re: Pre Season Stock Watch: Risers and Fallers
Very true. Probably hating on him a bit, but the camp reports havent exactly been good. Might have something to do with the fact that he's learning how to huddle and call plays. Which is kind of crazy.DynoScout wrote:Factor in Goff suffered two drops and was hit while throwing the interception and his stat line changes drastically with a little better luck.
