Why doesn't CPatt convert to RB? The Cordarelle Patterson Thread

Postby g_man3333 » Sun Feb 24, 2013 10:57 am

Is Cordarrelle on his way to giving us that one stud in the draft? He looks pretty beastly right now at the combing. Austin rising fast too.

Actually Robert Woods has done a nice job today. He is definitely a riser. He isnt one of the track stars in this class, but he has shown his hands and route running. He looks very natural compared to a lot out there.

This WR class itself is shaping up to be the 09 class. Nobody had Nicks, Harvin, Maclin, Britt, and Mike Wallace pegged as a Calvin Johnson type of stud, but I think we'll end up with quite a few legit WR's from this class. Patterson just needs good coaching, his potential is scary good, but I think Woods, Hunter, Williams, & Allen are much safer bets to be quality NFL WR's and their ceiling is still high. I wouldn't be surprised if any of those 5 guys end up stud WR's and there are still some later guys that look really good that'll be drafted within rounds 2-3. Then that's not even mentioning Tavon Austin, if you have a few picks to spend on WR's in the first this year I think you'll be happy.

Other than the 40, I wasn't overly impressed. Maybe my expectations were a bit high coming in...its like a great movie you didnt see when it first came out and you heard your friends talking about how great it is for months then when you get it on Netflix it seemed "meh".

Woods, on the other hand, I am moving up my board a little bit.

That's exactly how I felt. His 40 was very good. He was very raw in his catching. The guy has great YAC, and is a beast when the ball is in his hands. He still has a lot to work on....but the potential is there. Agreed on Woods too.

1.01. Not a slam dunk prospect like we've had the past few years, but he's a Dez Bryant type player.

I own the 1.01 in my league, and though my need is heavier at RB, I would have a hard time passing on his upside at this time. My other consideration would be G. Bernard, I think he makes a good transition to the NFL and could be a good RB 2 with possible RB 1 upside, depending on where he lands. Also watching M. Ball closely, but I would not take him at 1.01

I wouldn't take M. Ball in the first round. I've yet to see a single thing about him that stands out to me.

Have the same situation and I agree completely. Though I'm not sold I wouldn't rather have 2 of say Woods and Terrance Williams over Patterson, but it would have to be the right team in the 1st with multiple picks to make that type of a deal. I do know that through the process if I finish with Patterson as my top player I'd have to take him 1st, nobody wants to be the Ingram over Julio/AJG guy all over again. I'm really rooting for him to land in Miami or Carolina.

Yeah I didn't mean to indicate I would take him in the first rd. Just a guy I was curious about to see how he would do. I agree today was not impressive, but I will continue to monitor him.

Very valid points. My only question would be did Patterson and Hunter receive roughly the same number of targets or not. Hunter also preformed better during the Combine. I have them close but I would also give the edge to Hunter, due to the 2 inch height advantage, but I like those taller WR's.
