Post-Combine Rookie Rankings

Postby the_lung » Tue Mar 02, 2010 9:30 pm

Now that we're past the Combine but still before the NFL Draft, do you agree with this first round draft order: (which is obviously based purely on skill alone and does not take NFL team situation and opportunity into account)

1.01 RB C.J. Spiller
1.02 WR Dez Bryant
1.03 RB Jahvid Best
1.04 RB Jonathan Dwyer
1.05 RB Ryan Mathews

1.06 WR Golden Tate
1.07 RB Toby Gerhart
1.08 WR Arrelious Benn

1.09 RB Montario Hardesty
1.10 RB Ben Tate
1.11 WR Damaryius Thomas
1.12 QB Sam Bradford

The breaks are where I see a tier dropoff in talent.

I am not going to post my rankings since I am in so many leagues with the turds on this board  BUT generally speaking those players are pretty solid to include. I think a few of the RB's will slide due to team neads at the end of the first. I think Claussen and Gresham have a good chance of sneaking into the 1st round as well as possibily Dexter McCluster but all of this depends on their landing spots. Also, if it happens to be an IDP league, you may see one show up at the end of the first round.

Here is my rework. I can't see McCluster making it into the first in any drafts, and I wouldn't be looking to take him before the 3rd. I also think Spiller will be a bust and may have him too high in my list - I'll have to reevaluate when I see where these players end up.

The top 5 probably won't change very much, but I'm not sure if Gerhart would be that high in my rankings.

You guys are way ahead of me, as I haven't got them ranked per se; but here they are for now by position (without my comments &/or observations). I hate to slot anybody until I know where they are going. I will cut back the rbs to around 10 after the draft.

S. Bradford
J. Clausen
Tebow

Ryan Matthews
C.J. Spiller
Jahvid Best
Anthony Dixon
Jonathan Dwyer
Monterio Hardesty
Dexter McCluster
Ben Tate
Joe McKnight
Toby Gerhart
Andre Dixon
LaGerrete Blount

Dez Bryant
Arrealious Benn
Brandon Lefell
Golden Tate
Damian Williams
DeMaryius Thomas
Mardy Gilyard
Dezmon Briscoe
Jacoby Ford here as Crazy Al Davis just might draft him high because of 40 time!

Jermaine Gresham
Ron Gronkowski
Aaron Hernandez
Jimmy Graham
Dorin Dickerson
Clay Harbour is here only because I went Missouri State f/k/a SMSU

I don't agree that McCluster will be picked nearly as late as you project. Did some projections on picks in my main league with another owner and we have him being selected by the team currently holding 1.11.

Of course, we are a long way from the draft and picks will change hands a number of times but right now we have it this far:

1.1 Spiller
1.2 Bryant
1.3 Dwyer
1.4 Best
1.5 Bradford
1.6 Thomas
1.7 Williams
1.8 Matthews
1.9 Gerhart
1.10 Gilyard
1.11 McCluster
1.12 Benn

I personally have Mathews rated much higher, then again, what do I know.

Can I ask why you have Bradford so high?
In all of my dynasty leagues QBs go late 1st or early 2nd.

That is where we are expecting him to be drafted in our league based on what teams hold what draft picks. The team at #5 holds 1.1, 1.2, 1.4, 1.5, and 1.7. We have roster limitations in our league with a max at each position. Speculation is he'll have taken Spiller, Bryant, and Best - having the #1 RB and #1 WR that he will also add the #1 QB coming out. I find it pretty likely that he will trade out of one or more of the picks that he has and the 1.5 and 1.7 before the others. The teams at 1.8 and 1.9 both desperately need QBs - both with only 1 startable on on their roster. At the very latest he will be gone at 1.9 assuming the order stays as is.

2009 we had Sanchez drafted at 1.9 and Stafford at 2.1
2008 had Ryan at 2.5 and Flacco at 2.7

Hard to say for sure, but needs are likely going to put at least one in the first round this season.

Same here...but I would never refer to my fine league mates as "turds".

I take that back...I call Spencer a turd all the time.

I consider turd a term of endearment...it is about as nice as you will get from me

I would understand wanting to be a little secretive if there was a pile of cash at stake but that's not the case...the forum was created for the members to share their thoughts to help each other out. I remember Kris Kapsner once wondered if the lack of participation was a result of all of the leagues that were run through the DLF site with it's members...I'm starting to think Kris was on to something...just my 2 cents, not trying to start a 10 page Vince type thread here...

Anyways I'd be more than glad to share my rankings:

1- Bryant
2 - Spiller
3 - Matthews
4 - Dwyer
5 - Best
6 - Benn
7 - Thomas
8 - Williams
9 - Tate
10 - Dixon
11 - Hardesty
12 - Bradford

Anyways I dont really mind posting rankings even though I am in DLF III.....(Not that I have a pick in the first 2 Rds anyways  )

Bryant
Spiller
Dwyer
Matthews
Best
Dixon
Thomas
Benn
Williams
Tate
Bradford
Gerhart
