I think usage is/was a major factor here. When your front office/coaches are trying to go with a 3 headed running attack vice letting a guy get in a groove I think explains why you got from a 6 carry 33 yard performance to a 25 carry 204 yard, and 28 carry 214 yard day(s). Now obviously just cause a guy gets 20 carries doesn't mean he is going to give you 200 yards but the uptick in usage and proper management of personnel would lead me to believe this statement is false.

still think he is the ultimate sell and I will call it a double fluke , cogan has & should take his victory lap . I would in no way want to have ajayi in my long term plans . I am not going back to find my pre draft post but he runs too violently to last long and I still view miami as a mess even after the 2 week explosion.
Fantasy football is littered with many a carcass of rbs that flashed for a few weeks and ajayi is a prime example of another player that could end up like so many before. Perhaps the NFL has seen situations where the starting guards were cut and the 2nds were so much better but it is likely an aberration which will quickly fade.
I have boasted before on calls that were less correct so let the boy have his fun , what is next? will nellie agholor head to canton?

If someone else already brought up O line point apologies didn't read through all the posts. I drafted Ajayi round 2 held him whole time and picked him up 3 weeks ago few redraft leagues. To say I am believer is understatement. All that being said the Dolphins individual talent/potential on offensive line is 2nd only too the Cowboys. Tunsil was touted as 1.1 pick at one point. Pouncy, James, Alberts all 1st rd picks . Bushrod has made a pro bowl. Is Ajayi an elite talent? Probably not but we can all give laundry list of good not great RBs that have played behind talented offensive lines and excelled. This line got excited to play Bills and you will see this group bring it again vs Jets after bye week. Long term not sure where Ajayi will be but this season if you are in a start 2 RB requirement league personally I think mistake to trade The J-Train!

Maybe, but it isnt like his few carries were productive prior to this either. He was averaging 3.8 YPC in the first 4 games. If that number was better, I might be more on board with usage being a key contributor to why he didnt play well. His longest run up until the last two games was only 11 yards. When you go from that to these huge games, it makes me pause on the hype.

I have seen on Twitter that people would trade a 2017 1st for him, which is crazy to me.

The line was awful to start the season. The difference between then and now is that the Dolphins have had their starting line together the last two weeks. They've blocked better and subsequently Ajayi has been allowed to be what he is -- a good player.

Ajayi was the clear RB3 behind Gurley and Gordon. Major injury concerns caused him to fall, but the talent was always there. For whatever reason he was never given a proper chance until now. I didn't see this kind of production coming, but it doesn't surprise me that he's been successful.

Arian Foster just announced his retirement. Ajayi is having a dream couple of weeks and looks like he's undoubtedly the guy going forward.

Just sounds like an excuse people have used for other players in the past. You basically hitched his wagon to offensive line play. If they dont play well, neither will Ajayi.

I will just look at what he has done as a whole instead of a 2 week sample size

He was?? Because I had him as the 8th overall RB going into the draft. Very slightly ahead of David Johnson and only because I had concerns about DJ facing lesser competition.

As far as going into fantasy drafts, plenty liked Duke Johnson, Abdullah, Tevin Coleman, Yeldon, etc over Ajayi. He certainly wasnt the clear RB3

Yes, by many professionals.

If I may point out, you mention your personal rankings and scouting grades an awful lot in discussion here. You need to realize that almost every person in this community has their own rankings and research, so dropping your behind the scenes work every chance you get is more annoying than it is impressive.

Ajayi was RB3 on a few boards, before the knee rumor. But on most boards Abdullah was comfortably higher, a consensus early Day 2 pick. Ajayi was graded for a mid-late Day 2 pick varyingly around Duke, Yeldon, Johnson, and Coleman (Jags were higher on Yeldon than I suspect anyone else in the league).

Personally, my RB board that class was: Gurley, Abdullah, Johnson, Duke, Gordon, Ajayi, Yeldon, Coleman. But obviously I was much higher on Johnson and Duke than most.

Anyway, I wonder if Damien Williams is a handcuff worth rostering.

There's a difference between mentioning your personal rankings and presenting your personal rankings as some sort of industry standard, as you seem do above when someone mentioned having Ajayi ranked differently than you had him pre-draft.
