Top Free Agent Wr?

Postby Franky Four Fingers » Thu Jan 07, 2016 1:43 pm

The once vaunted 2016 free agent wr class has been thinned out like a nightclub at last call on its opening night. Spoken for already are AJ Green, Julio Jones, Demarius Thomas, and Dez Bryant. Dibs seem like they will be called on Alshon Jeffrey, Travis Benjamin, and Marvin Jones by their current teams. That leaves an uninspiring group of hasbins, neverweres, and butterfaces. Who are the wr needy teams going to take home? There's always the draft but you know at least one of these guys is going to get a semi-decent contract from a wr needy team. Pick your poison.

I voted Rishard. I think he will be a sought after player and get a decent contract.

I voted for Randle -- I feel like there is still some potential with him there to become a WR2 type. Could have a LaFell style resurgence somewhere else (another LSU wr).

Isnt Marvin Jones also a UFA? If so, give me him.

I included Marvin Jones with Alshon Jeffrey and Travis Benjamin in the players I assume will resign with their current teams.

If this retirement thing is just a way to get cut by the Lions, then Megatron...

Why do you presume Marvin Jones is going to re-sign and not Sanu? The Bengals seem to love Sanu because of his versatility.

Jones is my top FA WR not named Jeffery.

Of your list though, I vote Sanu.

I think Aiken will stay with Baltimore and I really thought I was going to be on my own selecting Sanu in the poll.

Voted Aiken. Entering 3rd year, despite being older, and showed solid being thrust into the top option on a team. I know many view that as 'more targets means more stats', but I'm not always behind that. I think he did well for himself and can be the best of this bunch.

Depending on where he ends up, Boldin could be a really nice PPR piece for a contender at a pretty cheap price.

I just deducted from their use that Jones would be the one they chose to resign. The Bengals have always been frugal with their money so they have plenty of cap space to get their preferred guy. They use Jones as a more traditional wr while Sanu is used as a gadget guy. The only time they used Sanu as a real wr was the year that both Green and Jones were hurt. He actually performed very well when given the chance, but as soon as Green and Jones were healthy Sanu was relegated back to a gadget role.

We're on the same page here. I've been a big Marvin Jones fan, almost to a fault actually.

When I saw the names in the poll I was going to say how dare Sanu and James Jones be on that list but Marvin Jones isn't. LOL

I'm not sure the Bengals keep Jones. He'll demand a larger contract than Sanu and may want to go somewhere he'll be featured more. Sanu seems more like a "just happy to be here" type of guy and would probably cost much less. I'm not sure about Benjamin either. With Gordon coming back, and new management in place, I think it's tough to make that call right now.

I chose HankTime from the group listed. I think the whole group is a crapshoot, so no real reason here.

With this lackluster group of WRs I just don't see Marvin staying in CIN because the money will be much much better out on the market...unless they franchise tag him which is very very very doubtful.
