Got My Guy!

My Superflex league which is heavily wieghted in favor of QB scoring just started it's rookie draft last week. I held the 8th and 10th pick of the first round. I tried moving up by offering both picks for one, but no one cared to other than the guy directly in front of me. Since the draft, I've been very high on Kevin White. I've had him as the #1 WR above Cooper. Something about him just gives me the feeling that this guy is going to be a stud. The picks went

1. Winston
2. Maritoa
3. Cooper
4. Gurley
5. Gordon
6. Agholor

I assumed White was going to go #6 so I figured I would pick whoever didn't get taken between Agholor and Parker. But when Agholor went 6 I called up the guy with the #7 and asked if he still wanted to make the trade and he accepted. We both needed a WR. So, I basically gave up Parker and one of DGB or Yedlon (whichever made it) for Kevin White. I'm happy with the move because I got my guy, but for the rest of you guys, was it a bad move?

I would've much rather had Parker and Yeldon than White. But, you got you're guy.

I think I'm safe in saying I've been a fan of White before anyone else (I drafted him 2 years ago in a devy league), but I'm not sure I would have made that trade. How do you know he wouldn't still be there with 1.8? Parker has been going ahead of him in many drafts lately because of White's injury. And some people are higher on Parker to begin with. Giving up the 1.10 was too much to move up one spot imo. I would have been happy to get White or Parker with the 1.8.

But as long as you're happy with it, that's really all that matters. If he turns into a stud like you think he will, I doubt you'll have any regrets.

Gratz on getting your guy!

I ended up getting mine, too... I overspent to get the 1.03 hoping Gurley would still be there... In my heart I knew he wouldn't be, but I took a chance... So when the 1.02 passed on him, I ended up with the guy I'd wanted all along... Came away with Gurley, Yeldon, CAP and Josh Robinson... feel like I did a decent job of addressing my RB hole...

I say hooray you got the guy you wanted which makes playing even more fun when they HIT. I think however when he had slid that far I would have gambled that he would slide one more spot or as soon as the 7th spot picked if he picked white offered him the 8 & 10 for white .
I personally do not like white and have been on the record as saying he is way over rated but that is just evaluation it doesn't matter to your team. The cool thing is you got your guy and had the stones to pull the trigger to make it happen / congrats .

You gotta get your guy. It makes the team yours and not some fantasy "experts." By most accounts I overpaid in order to be able to draft David Johnson (Gave up Gio + Charles Johnson) so he's sort of "my guy" for this draft. Should be interesting ride.

i would have stayed put and hoped White made it to 1.8 which he probably would have. If not, I would have gladly drafted Parker, and then would have traded him after he had a few decent showings for White+.

To get your guy, I think you gave up too much. You moved up one spot and got your guy (which I am very much in favor of), but I would have offered a 3rd rounder to move up 1 spot, maybe a 2nd. In giving up 1.08 and 1.10, I would have asked for a 2nd rounder in return at the very least. "You move me up 1 spot, I will move you up 10 spots". Ya know?

Still, you got your guy, and that's one of the measures of a champion.

What? You gave up 1.08 and 1.10 for 1.07. That alone is terrible value. Then you drafted a guy that probably won't play this year. Great work getting your guy, but you could have had at the very least had two other guys, or your guy and another guy by just standing pat.

White fell to the 4th round in my rookie/fa draft. If he misses the whole season, he will be an easy cut for me if I can't trade him to someone. But getting the guy you are high on is always great - he's going to have an opportunity to be a big player - just may not be this season.

i think he would have made it past 7. i think that other guy wanted parker anyways and not white. you could have had white and yeldon or who ever at 10. bad value imo. but hey you got your guy.....
