I already had him stashed. Deep league flyer on a former 2,000 yard runner, why not? I don't expect much but Ellington is injury prone and I don't think they paid CJ 2 million simply for motivation.

I drafted Bradshaw over him in my FA draft the other day.

After watching him on the Jets he was not impressive at all. I don't see how he pushes Ellington if healthy or does well in that division.

2 mil isn't chump change, I ultimately think he's an expensive insurance policy against Andre Ellington and also DJ. I think this shows they were planning on using 2 backs the entire time, and if DJ can't go week 1 due to injury or not enough practice time they will probably put CJ out there.

David Johnson missed two weeks of practice, and Arians said "There's no way a rookie is going to play in September and miss training camp. There's just no way in hell I'm putting him out there -- not in any expanded role of any kind." This lets them hold back Johnson early in the year while he continues to get acclimated.

I'm not sure about the specifics of his deal, but all the reports I read stated that his deal could be worth "up to" 2mil. So I'm not sure if they just didn't know the exact amount of his contract or if that means there's incentives in his deal that could make it worth 2mil if he reaches those incentives. So it's possible his actual base contract is significantly less than that.

I think CJ runs as the #2 this year and is an Ellington injury away from at least having some trade value to contenders. I kinda wish i would have held onto him in more leagues when i had him stashed earlier in the off-season.

I think this is more about DJ possibly not being ready by week 1 than anything else.

In my view, Ellington is only appropriate for passing-downs and change-of-pace. I don't think very highly of CJ either, but the point here is that Arizona is a very accessible depth-chart, particularly with David Johnson's hammy in the process of creating a rookie-year faceplant for him.

More likely the Arizona rushing-offense just becomes another dumpster-fire this season, but is Chris Johnson worth rostering again in fantasy? Sure. Ellington's injury predictor is something ridiculous like 80%+ iirc, and David Johnson is a flawed prospect needing development that right now he's crucially missing. So there's definite opportunity for Chris Johnson fantasy relevance. Washed up or not, if Ellington goes down, (Chris) Johnson will probably be getting 15 touches a week in Arizona.


p.s. there are way too many Johnsons and Browns in the league right now, it's annoying

$870k guaranteed. Which is the the bare minimum. No signing bonus. In order to get the remaining $1.3M he has to rush for 1300 yards and make the Pro Bowl.

If he even makes the team, I'd be shocked if he surpasses 300 yards and 3 TDs this season. I hope I'm wrong and he tears it up, cuz watching him in his prime was awesome.
