Paul Richardson. Thoughts?

Postby BuckeyeNation » Wed Aug 12, 2015 10:02 pm

I don't hear much about him around here, and am curious about people's thoughts on him. He was outright dropped in one of my deeper leagues today (12x31) and I dumped Tamme to pick him up. Never owned him anywhere else, but I thought he was still much too good as a stash to drop in a league of that size.

He's a 2nd year WR drafted in the 2nd round who showed some flashes towards the end of last season. Reports are that he's 50/50 to start the season on the PUP, and SEA brought in Graham and drafted Lockett. I think it's a given that he's worth a roster spot in a league that goes 350 players deep, but overall is anyone hopeful about Richardson or have any feelings about him whatsoever either way?

I'm super hopeful that he breaks out, but I'm a lifelong Buffs fan, so I'm pretty biased. He was fun to watch in college, and seemed to play bigger than his size, but even as a huge homer, I'm gonna need to see more before I use a roster spot on him in my shallow league.

It was the second time he tore the same ACL, a scary thing for a player whose calling card is athleticism and explosion. I am deciding whether or not to hang on to him before cuts are due in a week, but I think I can get him back down the road if I ever want to. I am targeting Lockett in that group in our rookie draft, so I may hang on to Richardson just to see how that plays out. He's not a bad stash just to see how he comes back, my expectations are just low.

I have him stashed in a couple of deeper leagues where I can start 4 or 5 WRs. He had a couple of nice games at the end of the season before the injury where he showed his quickness and explosion, was a 2nd round pick, and has a fairly easy road to playing time as Baldwin and Kearse are both replaceable. He will always be limited in SEA due to the offense, but I like him if he comes back healthy as a WR4/5 type.

Seattle WR situation is massively confusing and the reward for successfully acquiring their #1 receiver isn't worth the hassle to me...

Suppose he comes back pre-injury form and wrestles the SEA #1 WR job. What does that give you? '13 Tate? '14 Baldwin? And those were both before Graham. And I don't see him doing that.

I think he could have made a nice story for himself had he not been hurt - but I just don't see him panning out.

I think Lockett is a better prospect than Richardson in almost every way.

drop him in deeper leagues and you will regret it. very underrated WR prospect. already running and making cuts. seemed to develop a chemistry with russell at the end of last year. the sort of risk you want to take at the end of a roster.

Richardson looked good towards the end of the season. The injury couldn't have been more inopportune. Very good speed, decent route runner, nice athletic ability, good college production.

That said, you're looking at a player who has a lot of catching up to do behind Graham, Baldwin and Lockett. Should be rostered in all deep leagues.

I think Richardson is the most talented WR there. But like someone said, tearing the same ACL twice is worrisome. I'd definitely stash him in leagues with roster spots larger than 25 guys per team
