Orleans Darkwa

Anything to see here? What are the chances he receives meaningful carries this year? Liked what I saw from his limited tape. There seems to be a lot ahead of him on the depth chart, but not necessarily quality.

I'm stashing, but we also have 28 man in-season rosters (32 off); much smaller and I probably wouldn't.

I like what I see in Darkwa. yes he is buried in the depth chart but that could change. The best case scenario is if he gets traded to another team or released and picked up by a RB needy team.

I don't think he is going to break out as a RB1 or even a consistent RB2. But if he gets the carries he could be a decent bye/IR back up. but right now there are a lot of other RB's that make better bye/IR backups than Darkwa.

If you have the space he is a stash, his value can only go up from what I've seen on tape.

I have no idea how Andre Williams is where he is on the depth chart and Jennings and Vereen might be considered a bit fragile, so I think there's definitely opportunity for him to get some game action and expand it from there.

Darkwa has good size, with good speed and agility to compliment that size. He pairs his build and athleticism with an elite breakout age and solid college production. Unfortunately there isn't much tape on the guy but from some things I've read he is a well rounded player and well versed in the passing game. Nobody ahead of him on the Giants depth chart is anything special; Andre Williams is terrible, Jennings is a decent enough player (sort of a Joique Bell type of player) that gets hurt all the time, and Vereen is strictly a passing down back.

I'm hearing "Goodbye Dan Herron, Hello Orleans Darkwa, welcome to the end of my bench."

Is that what I should be hearing?

lol.. I literally just made that move. I had been trying to sell Herron to a few owners for nothing special for the past week and had my eye on a few stashes. Darkwa was one of them. Since I own Jennings in that league (16 team 42 roster spots) and I know a few owners in there are DLF members I pulled the trigger while I still could.

Here you go. Hot off the press.

ESPN New York believes the Giants could list Andre Williams as the starter on their first official depth chart.
Rashad Jennings has been repping with the second team at training camp, leading to speculation he’s behind Williams for early-down work. The Giants reportedly have health concerns with Jennings, who’s coming off knee/ankle injuries. Williams failed to impress outside of the red-zone as a rookie, but was partly a victim of the Giants offensive line. 30-year-old Jennings isn’t a lock to start after fading down the stretch last season.

He has the best name in the NFL, not even kidding. If he ever became a fantasy star, we could nickname him 'O-Dark'. It'd be so great.

But seriously though, his preseason touches last year weren't enough to form an opinion on him. I looked at them very closely, by the way (thought there might be an opportunity for him in Miami). He had a few decent carries against the Cowboys' hapless second team defense, but aside from that he was unremarkable in every way. Not bad, not good.

The best thing I can say about him is that he seems to have a legitimate 3-down profile, which seems to be becoming a rarer and rarer thing these days. I just don't know if he's actually talented.

And speaking of Andre Williams...

He's a black hole, guys. I say this because even if he does start (whenever, however it might happen), he'll be so bad that he'll still be a liability in your fantasy line-up. Andre got the soft part of the Giants run-D schedule last year (while Jennings got the tough portion) and was still terrible. There is no long-term hope for him, and any reps he's getting with the 1st-team in camp right now are a result of the front-office feeling embarrassed about how badly they flubbed him as a pick.

Just my opinion. It is possible I am wrong. I really doubt it, though.

I drafted him in round 20-something in a 12-team, 30-man roster PPR Superflex startup.

I don't think he really takes the lead job this year; but I liked what I saw from him in limited action.

Worth a stash in my opinion for sure, plus that Giants backfield is about as questionable as it gets.

How does a guy like this get cut from an NFL team. The Dolphins proved they have no friggin clue what they are doing at the RB position, Daniel Thomas WHO??? and this is just another reason why you can't use the argument "well NFL teams know more than we do, they are all-seeing Gods" to make decisions for your fantasy football team. He's clearly the best RB on the Giants, it's not even debatable in my mind. Showed really good power, good vision, good burst and smooth cuts. It's a shame he's 3rd or 4th on the depth chart right now behind Andre Williams, what a disgrace...

...and he catches the ball than Kevin White! His Metrics aren't that great, they are above average except for strength, but his college production was ho-hum. YPC in college were pretty low (for college) Is he playing agains first team D's? The Giants RB's suck, so it's not saying a lot.....

Darkwa had a solid night, but don't get overexcited at how he looks vs other roster-bubble players.

He's clearly better than Andre Williams and Vereen. If you want to say he's not better than Jennings right now I suppose I can't argue with you because I think Jennings is decent. I never really understood the Vereen love on this board, he's a passing down specialist not a 3-down running back. Darkwa showed some really good power last night, always pushing forward for 2-3 yards after he was wrapped up. Didn't appear to make any mistakes in pass-protection. I was impressed.
