Feel like I’m watching Tebow again. Is Sean Peyton really staking the next few years on Taysom and his new contract? He is zero threat to push the ball downfield and this rugby-style offense isn’t going to win more than a handful of games against bad teams.

I believe that if you look at his contract, there are options and performance/starter incentives on it for basically nearly every year of it. So the moment that they find a better option, they can cut bait, or reduce Taysom back to his gadget role at minimal cost. The only major sting is on the first year it kicks in (next year) when it has nearly 20 million guaranteed. That's actually smart; and makes sense - he can help ease a transition with a new QB, be they Rookie or FA - or play alongside Jameis much as he was earlier this year.

And if it's not looking great coming into 2023, then they simply cut bait, at a rate of about 5 million dead cap a year. And that would be the minimum you'd owe him, if he's simply playing his gadget role, and not starting.

It's a pretty good contract for both sides, to be honest. Taysom would have to go full god-mode to earn the full 40 million, though.

The amount they’ve invested in Taysom is nuts. I agree it’s not franchise crippling or anything, but it’s still poor decision making.

Chase is just going to be one of those WR's that has bad drops. It's going to be frustrating at times for Burrow owners and Chase owners, from time to time. Long TD ends up being an INT instead. Great talent, just has inexplicable drops from time to time.
