i am looking at buying a 2015 Subaru Outback
but i would like to hear your thoughts on them if you own one

also, there is a 2015 Outback Limited with 182000 miles (a retired couple that frequently traveled from MN to FL) for $13000....too risky? or will the Outback go to 300,000 miles...i don't really want to get another vehicle for 10+ years (i am currently driving a 1999 Toyota Soloara)

feel free to tell me other SUVs you would recommend....$20,000 budget

thanks

I put 300,000 on my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. Nice suv that you really get your money’s worth. Jeeps are tough. I since, have moved to a full sized Chevy pickup. Got it a1.5 years ago, a 1996 Chevy extended cab shortbox with topper & 4 wheel drive. It had 110,000 on it with mint body, no rust, one owner, had it parked in heated garage for long stretches. Have 160,000 on it now and plan on driving it for forseable future. Good luck with your suv search !

I sold cars from 2010-2016, and am still in the business (no longer on the floor, have been an F&I manager since 16)

I worked at a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram store, and am now at a GMC/Buick/Cadillac/Chevy store. So never sold new Subarus but I am pretty darn familiar with most brands & models.

Outbacks are generally very good vehicles but I would not be willing to pay that much for an Outback with so many miles.

I don’t think I could stomach anything more than several thousand $ for almost any vehicle flirting with an odo of 200K - other than a mid-late model diesel truck

Late, but agree. 10+k for a vehicle pushing 200k miles seems crazy to me

I've been in the automotive business for over 16 years. Most of it in the garage. While I have never worked for a Subaru dealership, I am fond of the product. I've seen plenty of Outbacks get 200,000+ miles. However, that price point is what would put me off of that one. Sure, the old couple/highway miles narrative is fine, but that's a pile of miles for the money. They hold decent value, but that still seems about $4500 too high for what I would feel comfortable with.

I've been driving Subaru cars on snowy Alaskan roads for the last 30 years; worth every penny if you ask me.
