Appreciate your taking the time to listen! :) I've listened to the earlier ones you posted. I am not really good at describing music - as much as I love listening to music - I just know when something 'speaks' to me. So I didnt really know if I should comment on the music that had been shared.

Anyways I had heard of JJ Cale - but had not really known how much of an influence he had on others - but after listening to that I can see why. :)
Yeah, that's not even a well know tune. He wrote "after midnight", and "Cocaine", which Clapton made famous, and he also wrote "They call me the breeze", which Lynyrd Skynyrd made well known.. I was a big Oasis fan back in the day, but early on, their first 2 albums were great, and after that they were really hit and miss. Another band I love from back then was the Verve, some of their B-side stuff I really like, as well as the well known stuff.

Here is "after Midnight", by Cale, which I particularly like the vocals on.

In part one of the reasons I posted the The Dead Heart (apart from it being a song I really like) is to comment on the fact that so many songs can be good on their own, but then once covered by someone else can take on a new life. I just finished reading "Cover Me" by Ray Padgett which goes into the history and role cover songs have played over the years, from the late 40s to present day. It is quite interesting and I found it enjoyable to hear some of the different versions of the same song (take Twist & Shout for example).
