Deshaun Watson Startup

Postby zdhaugen » Mon May 03, 2021 1:14 pm

Where would you take Deshaun Watson in superflex startup and where have you seen him go in recent startups? I understand there is a moral side that he is just completely off some peoples boards which I respect, but the purpose of the question ignores that and thinks of only the value. It's civil litigation so it doesn't sound like jail time so his career might not be over, but he might miss some time.

I would take him in a spot where you can assume that he won't contribute in 2021. For me that would be after guys like Burrow & Herbert. Maybe in the Russell Wilson zone. Before Trey Lance. Not sure on him versus Lawrence.

And I would be more aggressive on him if you're purposely building a team that packs it in for 2021 to get earlier picks in 2022.

QB9/10 range for me. I have zero expectations of him playing on 2021 which obviously kills his current value, but I also fully expect him to play in 2022 on a better team than Houston.

Keeptradecut has him listed as QB19. At that price, he is the ultimate buy low.

14 team must start 2QB, some guy took him at 1.10 (sandwiched between Dak and Baker). That guy was me.

I would think that Dak would go earlier than 1.9? Whoever got him there got a steal IMO.

I don't play much superflex, but I guess in that format I would take the safety of Lawrence. In a 1QB league I would be tempted to take the proven studly production of Watson as it's easy to have a solid backup plan.

Just out of curiosity, are people sleeping on Dak? Personally, I would put Dak in the top 6. And move Rodgers down due to remaining years of service. Maybe I'm off though?

I’d put him in the top 3. He has arguably the best supporting cast of all the elite QBs.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

🦬PRIME🦬
QB: Hurts, Howell
RB: Mixon, Jones, Sanders, Dobbins, Akers, Roschon, Dowdle, Kelley
WR: Nuk, Godwin, Cooper, Lockett, Flowers, Chark, Collins, Hollins, Tillman, Tolbert
TE: Hockenson, Chig, Trautman
Taxi: Willis, Z. White, M. Mims, T. Palmer

Hull Awaits
$450 cap, 60 contract years

QB: Lawrence $5/3, Richardson $5/5, Minshew $1/0, Jones $1/0, Heinicke $1/0, Tyrod $1/0
RB: Achane $4/4, Warren $2/4, Roschon $7/5, Dillon $4/1, Hubbard $2/1, Kelley $1/0
WR: Nuk $78/1, MT $25/1, M. Williams $1/0, JSN $21/5, Reed $4/5, Rice $4/5, M. Wilson $2/5
TE: Thomas $1/0, Hill $1/0, Parham $1/0

Dak seems low in startups, but he's valued in my leagues by his owners incredibly high, maybe untouchable.

Went as QB9 in a recent 12 team SF startup at 3.06 (though rookies were included as picks, and he went after the 1.03 -> so probably QB11/12)

Mahomes, Allen, Murray, Lamar, Dak, 1.01, Herbert, Burrow, Wilson, 1.02, 1.03, Watson
Dynasty - 9th year, 12-team, Standard scoring, 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2FLEX, 1K, 1DE/DT, 1LB, 1CB/S - 25man roster / 6 Taxi Squad
'17 Champ, '18 Runner Up, '23 rebuild

QB Watson, A Richardson, O' Connel (TS)
RB Gibbs, Akers, Dillon Carter, Bigsby, Chase Brown, Mcintosh, Tucker, Hull (TS)
WR Metcalf, DJ Moore, Addison, Meyers, Van Jefferson, Collins, Claypool, Mingo (TS), Hyatt (TS), Wilson (TS)
TE Higbee, Freirmuth, Otton (TS)
K Joseph
DE/DT Hunter
LB Franklin Simmons
C/S James

1.01, 1.04
