Dak or Lawrence

Postby polk_high_allstar » Thu Jan 14, 2021 3:53 pm

Could be in a spot in a dispersal where i could either take Dak or the 1.01 rookie pick (also known as Trevor Lawrence). Which way would you go?

Lawrence. That offense has some nice weapons and his upside is through the roof. Even if just to trade him on hype alone, I'd go Lawrence.

Since you're in a dispersal, I am assuming that you're not likely competing in the short-term. If that is the case, I would lean toward 1.01/Lawrence as the better long-term asset.

Based on it being a dispersal, I would say take 1.01. Dak is the more sure thing, but given the nature of being in a dispersal and likely rebuilding I’d shoot my shot with Lawrence.

Hard to disagree with the others here for the reasons discussed being a rebuild job. 1.01/Lawrence will be locked and loaded for 5 years under a rookie contract whereas Dak is coming up on his first contract renewal unless they tag him again. Who knows how many years he stays in Dallas or where he goes should they someone now sign him long term.

Maybe I'm off.. but this thread seems ridic. Dak has been a top-10 QB in 3 of his 4 full seasons. And he's the #1 scoring QB on a ppg basis for the last two seasons..

Dak is exactly what peeps are assuming Lawrence will be..

I agree DonBrazi in favoring Dak here. A few years (2018) ago I was drafting in a superflex rookie draft with the 1.02 selection. Barkley went with the 1.01 and the only veteran FA QB of note in the pool was Dak (still have no idea why). I was debating between Dak, Mayfield and Guice (I actually liked Rosen slightly more than Mayfield, but knew Baker would have more trade value). In the end I took the veteran, and am extremely happy for that decision. Now obviously Dak is a few years older now, but at 27 is in the very early stages of his prime. I don't think taking Lawrence would be a bad move, but it is one that carries extremely more risk, without significant additional upside beyond potential longevity.
