Feedback on league trade values

Postby SkinzFan » Tue Jun 30, 2020 5:50 am

I have a 10 team 26 man dynasty league that is going to superflex next year, one owner is already valuing his qbs higher ( using dlf trade analyzer) when making trade offers. I explained that its probably best going that route mid season, maybe after the sb. Yet he insists that we should all be trading with the elevated qb values. Is he right?

No, he's not "right". But he's also not "wrong". Put simply: you are allowed to have differing opinions without one being right or wrong!

That being said, I'm in his boat. There is no doubt -- none -- that the value of QBs will keep increasing over the next two full years. This year as people start preparing for the transition. Next year as SF is in full force. And the year after when teams realize how screwed they are in the new format.

So, yeah, I'd be buying up QBs now and increasing their value to acquire them from me right now since they're almost assuredly going to be worth a lot more moving forward.

I am the one who stacked QBs knowing where the league was heading. And, I can’t wait for Cam to pass his physical. I am hoping to stack some Draft picks for some QBs this year.
Yes, I may be wrong, but it feels sooo right and come mid season, everyone will know I was right. Come championship, everyone will wish they thought of it a year earlier, agreed

A league transitioning to SF means that QBs will be the cheapest possible. I would try to load up on them and if someone offered me a trade including a QB, I would value it as a SF.

I’m on the other owners side. Dynasty requires roster planning. If you’re selling a QB, you should do so at the SF premium knowing that’s how they will be valued going forward. There is no benefit to shorting yourself on that. Why change mid-season or after the SB? It’s a long term game.

If I’m buying I totally would try to get them at the 1QB price and wait for others to catch up to the value shift. That’s an opportunity to be exploited. I’m not a fan of that kind of change in general (1QB to SF) within an existing league, but so long as it’s known across the league and each owner has the opportunity to make an educated value assessment of that upcoming change, then that’s on them.

Some exceptions would be guys like Brees and Brady, who may not have the longevity even within the SF format given when it will be implemented. They may only have one SF year of usefulness.
