Big Ben Price Check

Postby shiningaxl » Wed May 27, 2020 3:43 pm

In a 12 man, 6 pt TD, SF league how would you value Big Ben? I realize Ben won‘t last too long and it would probably be best to sell to a competing team this year or a team that loses a QB to injury. A couple of people in my league only have 2 starting QB‘s. Currently is he worth about a mid 2nd rd pick? I realize his may change once the season starts. Just getting a baseline.

A mid-2nd wouldn't be enough for me. While I don't think that he'll have the longevity of, say, Brady or Brees, I do think that he will be VERY productive for the next couple of years.

That being said, a 1st is highly unlikely. Maybe a 2020 2nd and a 2021 2nd? A 2nd and a 3rd? A second and a player? Things like that.

This is how I want to feel but I don’t know if I was being to unrealistic. I think he can be a top QB this year and maybe next based on all the offensive pieces. I think with his age he won’t garner a first but I would want more than a second if I was selling. I think selling you could get more value for a player that the owner is low on and you are high on but if it’s straight picks I think 2 2nds is something I would be happy with.

What do you mean, won’t have the longevity of Brady/Brees? Do you see him playing less than a full season? Longevity is the best argument for Roethlisberger when comparing him to those QBs imo.

I mean that Brees is currently 41. Brady is 42. I don't see Roethlisberger (38) playing to 40+. I wouldn't let the fact that Brees and Brady are playing this long and this well have a meaningful consideration for Roethlisberger. I'm just seeing him playing or being productive at 40+.
