Joe Burrow vs Jonathan Taylor SF 1.1

Postby MyTeam » Tue Apr 21, 2020 12:33 pm

I've found it interesting that Joe Burrow is basically locked as the 1.1 in SF rookie drafts but in SF startup drafts, Jonathan Taylor has been going earlier in most that I have seen. Is this value somehow different because I drafted the 1.1 in my startup at 3.9 and from what I have seen, that is earlier than Burrow but later than JT.

Obviously this is depending on landing spots but as of right now, who is your 1.1?

If I had to pick now, I'd take Burrow.

If I "earned" the 1.01, I'd take Burrow.

If 1.01 is a luxury pick and one of the RBs (Dobbins, Swift, or Taylor) goes early to one of the dream spots (KC, Tampa Bay, maybe Miami) I could see taking them first overall.

Taylor is my 1.01 in 1QB, but he is absolutely not the consensus pick. Burrow is easily the #1 QB and SF asset in my opinion.

Burrow and it's not close. Unless it's a league with less than 10 teams maybe.

So why does Jonathan Taylor seem to go higher in start up drafts?

What startups are drafting rookies right now before the NFL Draft?

Probably because rosters are set and QB's are not available in any capacity beyond trade, or in a rookie draft in existing leagues. There is a very finite amount left in an active league to add the the starters pool compared to RB's, who can play in some capacity, whereas QB is an all or nothing position. You either play, or you don't.

I have the 1.01 in a SF league where I own both Mahomes and Lamar, so I absolutely don't NEED a QB, but there's no question I'm taking Burrow if I don't trade the pick.

I did one a few weeks ago.

Back on track though I would roll with Burrow easily. there are only 32 starting QBs. Positional scarcity and longevity would dictate that Burrow is the easy choice. I dont think I'd even go Taylor over Tua depending on what happens in the draft (if tua falls to the third obviously that would speak volumes and would push him way down my board for instance)

I couldn't imagine passing on Burrow at 1.01 even if I was set at QB. You could get a lot to move out of that pick.

Taylor's value could decrease depending on pedigree or situation of other RBs.

I plan on taking Burrow with the 1.1 in my league. I was just wondering why I was seeing him go after JT in SF startups that include rookies. Is value at the start up different than in the rookie drafts?
