Daniel Jones vs 2020 rookie picks

Postby FantasyFreak » Tue Dec 24, 2019 12:58 pm

What's his value? Assuming Burrow is 1.01, is Jones really that much less, given what he's shown? 5 TD's on the road, as a rookie, and has throw for 4 TD's twice, missing 3 games. The fumbles are the big concern, but where is his value in a SF rookie draft this year?

The guy was a punchline due to mass media, but he was the 6th overall pick and has shown a huge ceiling, as well as some issues with fumbles, but as a rookie, inconsistency is to be expected. What are you willing to pay for him?

He's worth an early to mid 2nd round rookie pick in superflex in my opinion.

He can move up if landing spots are bad or fewer QBs get drafted high, but right now 2020 looks so "wide" and deep that I think we will see 1.02 to 1.04 type value throughout the first round.

I also think we overreacted twice already with Jones. He was never as bad as we thought post draft, and he was never as good as we thought after he played OK for a few games. We definitely didn't owe Gettleman an apology yet... The jury is still deliberating that one.

Specifically in SF? He's for sure worth a first. Maybe not higher than Tua or Burrow just due to the perceived high ceiling, but probably right up there with Herbert. Hell, he was the 1.08 last year in my 12 man league and he's done nothing but increase his value by taking over the job earlier than expected.

There's not many starting QBs in the league you can buy with a 2nd round rookie pick in SF, unless you are in an incredibly shallow league.

I'd say a mid-late first. I thought Jones looked promising at times, and pretty bad at other times.

Jones' biggest games were against crappy opponents: Bucs, Lions, Redskins, and Jets.

Obviously his WR corps and Engram were consistently hurt, so maybe you don't give him all the blame but he did what any "competent" QB should do...beat bad teams. I'd throw a late 1st grade on him but would still rather have Burrow + Tua over him.

the smart decision is to just take Jones, burrows could suck in the NFL, and tua could be injured his whole career. At least with jones you have some tape and have seen some good things from him. really depends on how much of a risk taker you are. I love burrows but im concerned with him being coached by Zac Taylor. big Vegas guy?

First off, it's Burrow. Secondly, I would not take Jones over Burrow. Not a chance. There is tape from Burrow, too. Just because a guy has played in the NFL, doesn't mean he's better than a guy who hasn't. Both organizations suck, but I think Burrow is the better QB. No way Joens is worth 1.01 in a SF, for me.

Yeah, he's a first no doubt. Mid 2nd is a pipe dream, IMO.
