How many QBs needed in SuperFlex

Postby Prison_Mike » Mon Aug 12, 2019 6:13 am

How many QBs do you like to have on your roster in a SuperFlex league?
(Feel free to note variance based on scoring, league size, etc.)

This question stems from a trade I've currently got on the table but I think it'd be a worthwhile discussion for anyone coming up on a startup draft or making trades heading into the season

I want 2 top half QBs and 1 playable one. Then sprinkle in someone like Lock or Jones types.

However the draft goes. If the qbs are flying off the board I might just have the 2 starters and a prospect and make a trade later. If it's like most drafts and the QBs are falling I'll draft them all I drafted 8 QBs with my first 8 picks my last draft took me a couple weeks to get down to 3 love my team. But in generaly you probably want to be working with at least 3 capaple guys but obviously not everyone can do that. I have a league with Mahomes Wilson and Fitzpatrick. Bye weeks will be rough but I'll get a guy at some point

I like to hold at least 3 starting-caliber QBs, preferably two top-15 (QB1) and a QB2 type with job security. Throw in some veteran backups in (preferably) decent situations, and you're set. In my 14 team SF, I've got:

Starters with a ton of security:
Luck
Cousins
Kyler

Veteran backups:
Hoyer
Gabbert

I'd say 3+ starters and at least 1-2 developmental players. For example, in one superflex league I own Mahomes, Mayfield, Cousins, Grier, and Stidham.

Depends on other variables, quite a lot.

If it’s a ten man shallow league, you can easily get by with 2 studs, although in this league it’s gonna be that much easier to buy more.

If it’s 14+, you are at a distinct disadvantage if you don’t have 3 starters pretty much every year. I’m a bigger league you just plain can’t scramble for a startable QB, and 9 times out of 10 that means you are losing points at that slot.

That doesn’t mean it’s not viable to punt at that slot if the rest of your team makes up for it, but that can be dang tough.
