First time posting and first dynasty team looking for some reassurance I am on the right track to be a contender now and set myself up for the future.
First here is my team coming out of the startup draft that included rookies. Its a 10 team PPR 1QB, 1SF, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex, DST
QB-Winston, Cousins, Grier
RB-D Cook, Mixon, Montgomery, Murray, Peterson, Penny, Madison, I Smith, Bernard, R Freeman, Armstead, SNell, J Jackson
WR-Adams, Godwin, Williams, Anderson, Allison, Coutee, David Moore, D Johnson, Parker, perriman
TE- Henry, Mcdonald, Sternberger
Draft Picks
2020 Rd 1 X3 (2 should be top 3 based on current roster of the other teams)
all other picks normal IE 2020 2nd RD x1, 3rd rd x1 etc...
I came out of the draft with AJ green (6th rd pick) and flipped him for Henry, D Johnson and the guys 2020 1st (should be top 3), I also came out with Kerryeon (5th rd pick) and flipped him for Montgomery and the guys 2020 1st rd (Should be top 3).
7 out of 10 guys in this home league are very inexperienced players to begin with let alone running a dynasty team, most are over loaded with relevant players that are nearing the end of or on the wrong side of peak value or heavily invested in a large amount of unproven rookies. There are 3 what I would consider win now teams and the rest will struggle heavily this year. I feel I fall right in the middle and would be the 4th strongest win now team with my current make up.
Should I have kept the depth at WR and RB and been a top 1 or 2 win now team or did I make a mistake in looking to heavily towards the future to target the weaker teams for their 1st rd draft picks? I know I will be targeting QB in the 2020 Draft that is a big weakness with the uncertainty of Winston's contract as they can decide not to bring him back as well as WR.
Thank you for your feedback I look forward to being a contributing member of the forum.

I dont think youll be winning in a 10 teamer with your current squad. Just decide now if you want to use the extra picks to try and this year or make move to set yourself to make a run in 2020. Id would take the 2020 route. Find ways to up-tier your roster during 2019. You need studs to win in a 10 teamer.

I defiantly understand the usual strength needed in a 10 team however I was not over stating that the current roster I have would rank about 4th out of the 10 teams which is why I made the two trades for the future first rounds to try to take advantage of the stronger draft class next year and secure some young prospects. Most of the other teams went QB heavy taking QB's in round one and two getting some top talent at QB but severely handicapping upside on their other positions.jomaed wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 4:51 pm I dont think youll be winning in a 10 teamer with your current squad. Would you have made the AJ green trade with starting the 3 WR's that is on my mind as a possible regret as he could be a top 5-8 receiver this year if he is healthy? The flip side is that he could have recurring foot issues limiting his season and he is on the wrong side of 30 and how many years left does he have. I feel like this argument is the most common I see when it comes to moving on from players and trying to keep value from them in the dynasty format. Last question would be do you feel that what I got for AJ green was a value, I felt it was at the time but being new to Dynasty I am and trying to value trades correctly as it is important to my style of play, I am always looking to extract max value from players and my team in order to create future opportunities . I realize you can never predict the future but in redrafts I am not the type of player to sit on a roster and hope for things to happen I am the type of player that looks for probabilities on likely situations and trys to acquire players that will be relevant before they are perceived as relevant (at least to the average player).
I hope that makes sense thank you for your response.

Id expect you to struggle this yr. Its a 10 teamer and i just dont see a contender as you sit now. Obviously some young guys can breakout....but your relying on that for you to have a solid year. Not likely that they all happen to emerge all at once.
Its been yrs since ive played 10 teamer, but youth or rebuild doesnt really apply in the 10 team format. Most young guys dont ever reach elite levels and thats what it takes to win these leagues. Obviously you can be patient and hope for the best, but i found success going out and packaging prospects together for proven studs and then just holding tight. Alot of these young guys on your team will never be valued more than they are today. Its hard to realise and understand this....but its true.
