Mayfield/Murray Trade

Postby wiseguy87xy » Sun Jun 02, 2019 9:35 am

I was offered the below trade in my league in sig:

Baker Mayfield, Derek Carr, Nelson Agholar, Trey Burton, Tre'Quan Smith
for
Kyler Murray, Jimmy Garoppolo, Deebo Samuel, Dallas Goedert, Nick Mullens

Overall, I'm a big fan of Baker and I think I am blinded by the thought of getting him in a superflex league lol. So I need some help figuring out if I should take this trade. I appreciate the help! :D

Samuel >= Carr
Garoppolo + Murray + Goedert > Mayfield

I love Mayfield, but I'd sell for that.

I like Bakers he's my QB1 but in a superflex thats giving up way too much. Carr might be out of a job next year.

I'll take the Mayfield side.

I don't want Carr as my #3 QB, but suggesting that neither Murray nor Garoppolo have question marks whereas Carr does is misleading. Granted, of the three, only Carr could realistically be out of a job next year. But, Murray is entirely an unknown, and Garoppolo hasn't shown anything for more than stretches. Don't get me wrong: I see the realistic upside and appeal to both Murray and Garoppolo and the realistic downside to and fear of Carr. But, Mayfield is in a tier of his own compared to these three. Massive upgrade.

As for the rest of pieces, obviously I like what you're giving up quite a bit more than what you're getting. But, Samuel is a rookie and Mullens just cheap Garoppolo insurance. Truthfully, I would HATE to give up Goedert: I think that he'll be a beast for a long time, and I would do whatever I could to keep him. But, if Goedert is the only true cost to moving up to Mayfield, then I'm all for it.
