Luck trade dispute

Postby afrye1 » Wed May 23, 2018 9:56 am

Men and Women of this fine board,

I am going back and forth with a fellow owner over a trade that I don’t think is going to happen. In our 10 team superflex he came to me with an offer of Mike Williams, a 2019 1st (mid to late) and a 2019 2nd mid to late for Andrew Luck. I told him I would do it if he added Sony Michel. He is balking and telling me his offer is very reasonable. I thought I was still underselling luck with my offer. Am I way off here? Team one in my sig. plus I have added through the rookie draft so far...

His initial offer was more than fair for a QB that hasn't thrown a football in two years. Adding Michel is asking for way too much. You're asking for 85% of Luck's full value, but the market isn't there given the risk.

Fair, but at the same time there's no way I'd sell Luck for the kind of return mentioned above.

This is a bad time to sell Luck. I'd just hold him unless you're really panicking. If he comes back to form, you'd be able to get more than Michel added.

Hold Luck, you'll never get what you want for him until he actually plays in the NFL again

He didn't go until the 4th round of my SF startup. The first offer is fairly close, still just a little low, for that valuation. Your counter was absurd

If you want an idea on how these players are currently being valued, take a look at the recent start-ups that have been posted in this forum. The DLF one has Luck and Michel a round apart (rounds 3 and 4, respectively). I agree with others that your counter was way too high.

I would hold Luck. Although his offer was decent I would need Michel, 2019 first plus to trade Luck at this point. Not a huge Mike Williams fan nor a mid to late 2019 second fan.

Yeah, I like Luck a lot, and I think it's time to be real about the floor of his situation. IDK how he's a top dynasty QB at this point. Even if he can throw a ball again, can he do it and have a 320 pound man fall on him with force every few plays? I'd be selling ASAP as soon as I got a good deal.

That, and the initial offer was a pile of garbage for Luck, i'm shocked people are saying otherwise. Luck has missed 1 season. ONE SEASON.

Its a 10 team SF - so that means 20 QBs as potential starters rather than 24 - so I am not surprised if owners are devaluing QBs closer to a 12 team QB 1 league.
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ almost wasn’t going to reply but this made me laugh pretty hard. Because it’s funny and 100 percent correct.

I wouldn’t take Williams as a piece in any deal soma mid first a year away plus pennies is a really horrible offer and no where near reasonable. Adding an unproven rb who is being overdrafted still isn’t close. I get the concern over lucks shoulder, there is some serious risk here, but he’s a strong hold at this point. SF I would want another qb and a piece or a proven player at another position. I would stop the negotiations with this gentlemen and run, not walk, run away.

I highly dislike Luck and think he's extremely overvalued (he's Stafford) and even I think that was a crap offer. Not even sure I'd trade him for Michel and a random 1st/2nd in your league set up. He is what he's always been, a high volume passer on an awful team that will need to put up points. Good for real nfl? Not really. For fantasy? That's gold. I'm also fairly sure the other owner knows that he offered crap for him.
