Sleepers

Postby captain_insano » Wed Jan 21, 2015 8:42 pm

Who are some of your sleepers your keeping an eye on that nobody's really talking about? One guy I'm keeping an eye on is RB Malcolm Brown-Texas.

Brown is also on my sleeper list.

I like Matt Jones as well.

Some people I don't hear anything about?

Garrett Grayson - He could easily be the 3rd QB off the board possibly in the 2nd or 3rd round to a team like STL.
Michael Dyer - Yes, he's older but the talent from his back to back 1,000 seasons at Auburn are still there.
Kasen Williams - Before his injury he had the explosiveness and talent of a 1st Rd. WR. This year he didn't get the touches to prove it.
Phillip Dorsett - I hear close to nothing on this guy and he is projected to go Day 2. Also has been tearing up the Senior Bowl practices.
Jamison Crowder - Projects to be a slot WR who is as electric after the catch as he is on returns.
Vince Mayle - Stats are padded from CFB system but has the physical traits NFL scouts look for in a WR #1.

Matt Jones can be a huge pickup for a team that needs a powerful back. He would be a great pickup by Arizona to compliment Ellington. If it wasn't for the Gators inept offense, he would be much more well known.

Thanks for the heads up on Dorsett I haven't heard of him.

I'm big on Mayle, I took him right at the end of a deep devy draft earlier this fall. He's got small-ish hands (9") but he's got a pretty big body and he runs good routes.

Dorsett is actually getting some heavy looks from Miami and Houston. He is a speedster WR and if Miami cuts ties with Wallace, Dorsett can be the guy to replace him. If he times as expected or better at the combine, I would not be surprised at a 2nd round selection by either team.

I watched Dorsetts draft break down clips today. Definitely looks like he has speed to burn and pretty good route running. You know he's fast when the corners give him that much cushion.

I was watching the Senior Bowl today and Mayock said he had sources tell him that Dorsett would run between a 4.25 and 4.35 at the combine.

Well I was hoping he was going to be a sleeper. Sounds like he may not be after the combine.

Donatella Luckett. Old for a rookie (23) but has a bunch of talent.

Also feel like Rashad Greene doesn't get enough talk despite crisp route running, good hands, YAC ability and big success in a pro style offense.

Interesting. When I looked into Jones I didn't really see any high-level NFL qualities.
I guess I need to take another look.

He's a sleeper. It's not about having high level NFL qualities really, just someone to keep an eye on. If he gets in the right situation he could be worth a late pick or a FA pickup.

Davante Davis. I stumbled on him while doing exactly this, looking for sleepers. Waldman did a decent writeup on him.

Definitely agree with some of the guys listed so far...Kasen Williams, Dorsett (he's gaining some steam though), Mayle, DDavis.

Some other sleepers...
Antwan Goodley WR Baylor
Cameron Artis-Payne RB Auburn (I've seen him ranked really low by a lot of people, I think he's as good as anyone else being ranked around 7th/8th or lower right now)
Corey Grant RB Auburn
DaVaris Daniels WR ND
Deontay Greenberry WR Houston

Deep Deep sleeper....Tony Jones WR NW. Fast, elusive, runs good routes, good yac, but inconsistent hands. I've seen him make some nice catches away from his body but then drop some as well. Probably has small hands.
