Hackenberg

Anyone have insight into Hackenberg's struggles this season? He was a top QB prospect after 2013. This season his box scores do not look impressive at all. Has the surrounding level of talent on Penn State dropped significantly from last season? Is all due to the change in coaching? Is there more than that going on?

Simply put, he just looks awful. Like undraftable. I couldn't tell you what it is (his WR definitely isn't as good) but he just dropped off the face of the earth it seems.

His coach left, his best WR left, and his current OL can't keep him clean.

Observations, not excuses....he's looked turrrrrrible at times.

PSU could arguably have the worst offensive line of any big conference team. They now have the worst rushing offense as well - which is obviously a product of the o-line. Hackenberg is stuck making throws on the run or is just running for his life and getting taken down. Even when he does get throws off, they are usually rushed and under severe pressure. Even then, he is stuck throwing to very mediocre WRs who aren't creating separation and certainly don't help him out.

Horrendous offensive line, even worse running game, average at best WRs, and new coaching staff (which is a staff that is going to run the spread once Hack is gone - they don't even know how to utilize a real QB).

Just watch PSU for one half and you will see all of this. I can't say he gets zero blame, because he has made many questionable decisions and bad throws - but you have to wonder how much of it stems from him taking a beating and rushing through his progressions and throws.

Simply put, his value is taking a huge hit and it is going to benefit anyone that can get him right now.
