2019 Season Discussion

Postby TrueDawg » Fri Jun 07, 2019 11:04 am

Okay I think the 2019 league site (linked in the other thread) is ready...

You may drop players with zero years (unless you intend to tag them)... the easiest way to do this in a single transaction is probably from the Injured Reserve page. You must also promote players from IR that are not injured (which should be everyone), retired, etc.

Please do not do anything else with your roster right now.

MFL has added a Drop Players function under the Owners tab to dump multiple players in one go.

I dumped all my zero year players, also Malcolm Brown and Mike Badgley, but their years weren't adjusted when I picked them up last season.

Ya'll can post franchise / transition tag and renegotiation threads early, but the clock doesn't start until the league year officially opens. Not going to have bidding end before the threads are even supposed to be posted... that way nobody can say they didn't know the players were available for bidding.

I think trades need to be enabled? I can't see/send any when I go to my trade page.

Shouldn't FT/TT players require guaranteed amounts to be declared?

Also, for renegotiated players, the existing guaranteed $ should be required in the listing, no?

1.05 and 1.08 are on the block. Likely looking to trade down in this year's draft and acquire future draft capital.

Of course... the tag amounts are already posted.

No... the bidding starts at $300. But don't worry... there's no getting out of guaranteed money.

Oh, I guess we left the guaranteed % out of the rule change for the year. Sorry, I missed that part travelling...

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to voice this earlier, but I think making guaranteed $ king, without also allowing owners to designate the % of guarantee is a huge mistake. I get that we probably did that for simplicity sake, but it doesn't make much sense from a "players' perspective" and I think it has a lot of potential for loophole/exploitation...

That said, if we're moving forward with guaranteed $ being king, and the capacity to assign years, then we need to have a serious discussion about how the FT/TT will be affected by it, because the old rules don't fit, and there is the potential for some pretty egregious loopholes without careful consideration. The old "starting point" framework doesn't work. Not by itself. There has to be a guaranteed $ component.

Also, how does a "match" work for the TT, FT, and contract renegotiation?

Hypothetically, I...

CR: Zach Ertz

AND

TT: Mike Evans

Let's say the winning bids are 3/25(G) and 4/45(G), respectively. Am I bound by those years/values or am I bound by the guaranteed amount? In other words, do I have to give them 3/25(G) and 4/45(G), respectively, or can I assign years with the guaranteed money prorated out?

Are players won via blind bidding during the season treated as fully guaranteed contracts? Or should we bid 20% of their "cap value" as the guaranteed money? Or, better yet, just eliminate blind bidding entirely...

If you're matching, you're matching the terms of the contract, just like the NFL. Teams don't get to match a contract offer but then change the terms.

I dont think in-season blind bidding should change... I don't think that's part of what we discussed. its a 1 year deal anyway.
