IDP Trade

Postby MucBuc » Sat Feb 25, 2012 3:04 am

I've been offered this trade in my 32 team dynasty league:

Give: D'Qwell Jackson + 2012 3rd round rookie pick (15th)

Receive: AJ Hawk + 2013 1st round rookie pick

My trade partner actually boasts a decent team, so I figure the pick will be in the lower half of the first round next year.
I'm not really looking to move D'Qwell as he's my best player right now and the rest of my teams needs to be rebuilt,
but he has missed 2 games in 2007, 10 in 2009 and all of 2010 due to injury. Hawk isn't as productive, but I think he's
a solid starter and missed just 2 games in 6 seasons.

Take or leave?

Pass Hawk is a major step down from Jackson, and it seems like that 1st you'll get equals a late 3rd in a 10 team league.

Who else does this other owner have that you think you can get, either as a trade addition or in place of Hawk?

There's not much else on his roster that I'd really like, mostly aging players and underachievers like Jamaal Anderson.
Maybe I could get Stephen Nicholas (LB, ATL), Brent Grimes (CB, ATL) or Aaron Ross (CB, NYG) from him, but I'm not too fond of either one. and my secondary should be OK with Eric Wright, AJ Jefferson and Dashon Goldson. There's more pressing needs. Nothing of interest on his offensive roster.

My league uses the following IDP scoring settings: Tackle: 1 / PD: 5 / FF: 5 / INT: 8 / Sack: 5 / Def. TD: 10

Pass. You're not missing anything by not adding Hawk. the draft pick pseudo-upgrade isn't worth consideration.

I would pass then.

definite pass. Would be nice to upgrade the pick, but D'Qwell is a stud and studs win in 32 team leagues.

Thanks for the replies! 8-)

Yes, studs win in 32 team leagues. The problem is that I'm starting backups and sleepers on most other positions (I took over a gutted team), so I need to build for the long haul, without a first-round pick until 2014. However, still no reason to throw away my precious few good players below value. I'll pass.
