Startup Draft - IDP Lite league - How'd I do?

Postby Lordchay » Fri Jul 23, 2021 11:37 am

So this is for a 12 team, 30man roster which requires the following starters:
QB, RB, RB, WR,WR,WR, TE, PK, (RB/WR/TE Flex), DL, LB, LB, DB, ( DL/LB/DB Flex)
0.5 PPR Scoring

I went into the draft thinking I was going to go productive struggle and try to build for the future. I had the 11th spot in the draft as well. Not alot of trading going on, honestly I was involved in every draft day trade, LOL.

Here is the final roster:
QB: Brady, T.Lawernce, D.Watson
RB: Etienne, Hunt, Conner, Pollard,Ty Johnson, Stevenson
WR: Lamb, Godwin, Moore, Sutton, Beckham, M.Williams, Watkins, Smith-Marsette
TE: Gronk, Harris
PK: Sanders

DL: Burns, Garrett, Watt
LB: Roquan Smith, Fred Warner, Dieon Jones, Micah Kiser
DB: Von Bell, Landon Collins, Richie Grant

I also have picked up 2x 1st in 2022 and a 2nd in 2023

Since we only play 4 Defensive guys, I wanted to make sure I had depth at each position and also top-end talent. I know going into this year that I'm weak at RB/TE and if Lawerence doesn't pan out I will be weak at QB after Brady.

But overall how do you think I did?
Too many teams to list here...

I cant speak to the IDP side at all, but I like Lawrence, Etienne and your young WRs long term. TE is a concern, but I would not worry about it this year. You should be a playoff team this year, but again I like your young build long term.

it depends a lot on the IDP scoring (like always).
from what i've seen, leagues that start few IDPs tend to have them scoring a lot less than they should. if i was in a league like that, my only concern would be to get a big time DL (if big-play scoring) or a top end LB or two (if tackle heavy) and stream all the rest.

without seeing the draft development and the IDP scoring, the overall impression is that you overdrafted half of your IDPs (or even all of them), while you could probably have built a bit more depth at TE/QB (you probably didn't draft IDPs when fantasy relevant RBs were being picked so i don't count that weakness as due to IDP). your WRs are great, but that can probably be said for about half of the teams in the league. on the flip side, you're set at IDP for a long time, and with two extra 1sts next season you can easily get the RBs and a TE to propel you into contention.
