Fade Parsons?

Postby ThunderTung » Sun May 02, 2021 1:35 am

leading up to the draft, Parsons was my favorite IDP player for obvious reasons. I was gonna target him with one of my 2nd round picks.

After his landing spot, im debating on whether I should fade him altogether.

Don't get me wrong, he's incredibly talented. But as a Jaylon Smith owner im hesitant, worried that he'll be incredibly devalued for me, and maybe even limited to more of a TE/RB coverer/edge setter.

Talent always over situation, but in this specific case I feel like his situation will make it really hard for me to get anything of value out of him, am I going nuts?

In my IDP leagues, he'll be the first IDP player taken (mid 2nd, maybe higher this year). If I owned Jaylon Smith, I wouldn't spend the draft capital needed. Besides Jamin Davis looks like he's in a great situation. I'd take him later in the draft.

FWIW, I don’t see either Smith (performance) or LVE (injuries) as long-term pieces of the Cowboys defense.

admittedly I don't watch a lot of Dallas games, but I see a lot of Smith hate and I don't really understand why?

he was 2nd in league with over 150 tackles, he's young, gets a lot of tackles, has one of the lowest missed tackle percentages among comparable players and puts up good IDP numbers. Where does the "he sucks" narrative come from? Is it just salty Dallas fans that are mad about him not being great in coverage or something?

I'm not in love with the guy, but he's one of the highest scoring LB's in my league which in turn means "valuable" why should I worry about his performance?

Jaylon Smith literally can't cover. Dallas has safeties and corners who also can't cover--making his inability to cover look even worse

He's a useful player but he isn't a great fit for the team's personnel or the modern passing league

Dallas declined LVE’s 5th year. Maybe they’ll phase him out and Parsons in?
