Giants LB David Mayo will undergo surgery after tearing the meniscus in his left knee.
Mayo's loss is another blow for the Giants' defense, which lost rookie S Xavier McKinney to foot surgery. Mayo was second on the team in tackles last season. The Giants are now dangerously thin at linebacker, with 2019 fifth-round pick Ryan Connelly now potentially entering the starting lineup.

Connelly came on strong, then went to IR. I'll try to add him wherever I can. I liked what I saw out of Connelly last year before he went on IR. I already had him stuffed in a couple of leagues waiting for his opportunity, now hoping he takes advantage!

Devante Downs, apparently. I was really surprised they cut Connelly. I was assuming he'd be back once they placed Mayo on the short-term IR, but I read this morning that they don't plan to bring him back.

Between Kendricks, Barr, Harris and that DL logging tackles like they do, there’s probably not enough for a guy like Connelly to be counted on as even depth in full IDP leagues.
