I figured this would be a good thread to start to discuss defensive players that opt out and create opportunities for other players to step up this year.
Donta Hightower leaves a big hole at LB for NE. Who do you think benefits more from this: Jawhaun Bentley or Adrian Phillips?

No clue. I don't think there's any way to guess what the Pats will do at any position.Fantasyfanatic11 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 6:57 am I figured this would be a good thread to start to discuss defensive players that opt out and create opportunities for other players to step up this year.

This is a good thread to have though. Seems like a bunch of players are starting to opt out, no really big names yet for fantasy purposes but I'm sure they will start opting out soon.
Re: 2020 Opt-Out Impact
Patrick Chung opted out too. Could be Kyle Dugger who benefits, but I'm guessing Bentley.

Re: 2020 Opt-Out Impact
I would say Bentley and Phillips are the guys most likely to fill those spots.
I do know this....with the opt outs the Patriots now have $24 mil in cap space for 2020 and over 100 mil in 2021 and Jadaveon Clowney is still looking for a place to play.

Re: 2020 Opt-Out Impact
I haven't been able to find it anywhere, do players who opt out not count against the cap this season. We are trying to follow the nfl in my large salary cap leagues (32 team sin copy) and both hightower and Chung have sizable salaries their teams would like to remove. I.r. counts against the cap.problemsolver wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 5:24 am I would say Bentley and Phillips are the guys most likely to fill those spots.

Re: 2020 Opt-Out Impact
Everything I've read says that their salaries do not count against the cap, aside from the $150k or $350k salary they draw for being high risk or voluntsry opt outs.

Re: 2020 Opt-Out Impact
Thought the 150k/350k is an advanced from their 2021 salary since they do not accrue a contract year.problemsolver wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 8:16 am Everything I've read says that their salaries do not count against the cap, aside from the $150k or $350k salary they draw for being high risk or voluntsry opt outs.

Wow! That is a lot of space for a team that is already very savvy with their salary cap.problemsolver wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 5:24 am I would say Bentley and Phillips are the guys most likely to fill those spots.
