del Rio- WAS 4-3 defense

Postby Pullo Vision » Sat Jan 04, 2020 8:34 am

New DC DC Jack del Rio has said the Skins will run a 4-3 defense, which they haven't had in some time. Based on their roster at the moment (ignoring FA and draft moves), who would be their starters? They have some talents at DL- Allen, Payne, Kerrigan, Ionnaidis, Sweat. I'd guess the first two would be the starting DTs, but who would be the edge? I'd say Sweat would go to the bench (after being listed at LB as a rookie), but would his 1st round draft capital give him an edge? With one less LB starting spot, who would be the starters?

Sweat would most definitely play DE so it would be up to your league site to change his designation. Jonathan Allen can play DE or rush DT. Kinda a tweener but a good pass rusher. I’d say Allen on 1 end and Sweat on the other. Payne at DT Rush and iodonnis as DT rush
Ryan Anderson will probably play traditional 4-3 SLB Ruben Forster at MLB if he is healthy and don’t get into any more trouble, and DSH is more of a fit for WLB in a 4-3 than 3-4 ILB in the NFL. Just my opinion looking at it quick.

Main offseason moves for the defense- draft Young, sign Thomas Davis.

Young, Kerrigan and Sweat are the top listed DEs on MFL, Jonathan Allen, Matt Ioannidis and Caleb Brantley the top DTs, Thomas Davis, Cole Holcomb, Jon Bostic, Reuben Foster the top 4 LBs.

Willing to bet a number of these starters are FAs in many leagues, or might be gettable cheap.

Payne is another noteworthy, perhaps top real life, DT on the roster. I’m not sure anyone outside of Kerrigan is on waivers that will get notable snaps on the line.

True, Payne is noteworthy. While he might be on waivers, read/heard speculation that Allen might be on a new team next year. Might push Payne into major snaps.

Also read this article speculating that Kerrigan could see snaps at LB. Would help get their best players on the field- https://www.fantasyalarm.com/articles/a ... igibility/
