Mason Foster or Nate Irving - Who has better fantasy career?

Postby boobam13 » Sun May 29, 2011 8:31 am

Between the 2 of these who has better/longer FF career?

I'll be targeting one of them at #14 overall in my draft next week, so I am very interested in your input!

Neither one are guaranteed the MLB spot, and free agency could make either or both useless, atleast in this year's CBA debacle. With a lack of DT's in Denver eating up the linemen, I'm not sold on Irving being anymore valueable than Foster if he can't shed the blocks. Their really close in upside imo. If things go well for both guys, Irving's probably got the higher ceiling by a small margin.

Either could be great or not even rosterable in smaller leagues this year depending on free agency.

Nate Irving should be taken before Foster IMO. Irving is good in zone coverage and is decent in man-to-man. Foster isn't that good in man pass coverage. Irving being better in pass coverage gives him the edge to be a 3-down LB over Foster and that's what counts in FF. Foster is a better pass rusher then Irving, which is why many thought he would be a WLB in the NFL. Foster could learn to be better in pass coverage down the road, but pass coverage is more important then rushing the passer at MLB.

That's why Irving is the #1 LB.

Foster is ok in zone, but he has stiff hips and won't be able to cover a pass catching NFL TE. He should be a WLB so a 4-3 cover2 team can use his sideline to sideline ability and not have him in that much pass coverage. It's possible they bring back Ruud and Foster becomes the replacment for Hayes in 2012 after a year to learn the system.

Seems Irving got the nod here...I am thinking about him over some seasoned vets for my #4 LB
