As commish, I would love to throw rookie draft grades at my league mates for our most recent rookie draft. If you have the time and enjoy throwing shade or praise, please feel free (I know it takes a lot of time to review these in this manner). Even if you only want to comment on one or two teams and its as simple as "Team A bombed it" or "Team B did great", that would be great. Also, if you are not into IDP, but would like to comment on the offensive selections, just state you are ignoring the IDP and throw something out regarding the offensive guys! Feel free to comment on anything from value to to upside or anything that pops into your mind.
This is a very complex and active dynasty league (the draft order below really does not reflect the standings from last year as this league is extremely active with trades all year). Our benches are 40 deep and this is also a contract and salary cap league (where you are actually dinged with cap hits in the future years if you cut a guy before their contract expires) so, are rookie draft is slotted with a payscale. We are entering are 9th season and have only ever had one manager leave the league (as he switched jobs and lost time for it). So, Im always looking for ways to keep the league fresh and exciting.
We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 FLEX (RB/WR/TE), 2 LB, 2 DE, 2 DT and 3 DB. Its a 0.5 PPR with balanced IDP scoring (2 points for all tackles and 6 points for sacks being the bigger scoring items for IDP). If anyone wants any additional information, just let me know!

Re: Rank this Rookie Draft (with IDP)...
I think there are a LOT of variables here... that make it pretty difficult to choose just 1. Quantity of picks vs. value is one.
I like BBWC and SL for the talent throughout their picks.....
but...
Hurricane got crazy value. Isabella 3.2 is just bonkers. Mclauren, Love, and Winovich past 3.7?

TONS of variables indeed. Your response is exactly the stuff I was hoping for. Hoping to grab a bunch of quotes like this and then send off as a blast to the league. Thanks!Lumps wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 9:12 am I think there are a LOT of variables here... that make it pretty difficult to choose just 1. Quantity of picks vs. value is one.

BBWC, SL close second.
isabella slipped a bit, but being IDP, mclauren and love in those spots is hardly surprising.

Its a 10 team draft. Isabella in the early 20s of an IDP draft isn't that crazy. He went at pick 22 in an IDP 12 teamer I just finished.Lumps wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 9:12 am I think there are a LOT of variables here... that make it pretty difficult to choose just 1. Re: Rank this Rookie Draft (with IDP)...
Not familiar enough with IDP but...
Round 1:
1.01 (1) N'Keal Harry, WR, NE (TP) Great pick
1.02 (2) Josh Jacobs, RB, OAK (BBWC) Great pick
1.03 (3) Kyler Murray, QB, ARI (STORM) Horrible pick. 10 team 1QB? Yea no...
1.04 (4) Miles Sanders, RB, PHI (SL) good
1.05 (5) David Montgomery, RB, CHI (AJ) good
1.06 (6) Devin White, LB, TB (HEYWOOD)
1.07 (7) AJ Brown, WR, TEN (HURRICANE) I think he may be talented, but the QB situation in TEN isn't great. But I assume this is a "pick your guy" situation
1.08 (8) Nick Bosa, DE, SF (SL)
1.09 (9) DK Metcalf, WR, Sea (MM) I like it. I think he gains a lot of value with Baldwin out. I realize that people say he can only run deep, but if he can pull it off, he's having one of the top deep balls being thrown to him.
1.10 (10) Marquise Brown, WR, BAL (BBWC) I think I'm lowest here. (1) Brown is recovering form a foot injury that tends to be a problem long term, (2) the Ravens were a run first team, yes they could be trying to change that but I think they will still be run first.
Round 2:
2.01 (11) Mecole Hardman, WR, KC (TP) I think this is another get your guy situation. I think Hardman has the potential but I think its foolish to think he'll just come in and become Hill.
2.02 (12) Deebo Samuel, WR, SF (BBWC) I like Campbell better than samuel here but not bad
2.03 (13) Parris Campbell, WR, IND (BBWC) see above
2.04 (14) Hakeem Butler, WR, ARI (SL) Lots of targets and a rb to take targets. Not excited about Butler but maybe he'll be good, though it could be someone else too.
2.05 (15) JJ Arcega-Whiteside, WR, Phi (WOHO) Not sure how much he does first year, but I like the potential after a year on the bench
2.06 (16) Darrell Henderson, RB, LAR (HEYWOOD) Nice value especially if he's a Gurly owner.
2.07 (17) Devin Bush, LB, PIT (BBWC, Picks #23 and #41 were traded to move into this spot)
2.08 (18) TJ Hockenson, TE, DET (FD) Surprised this is the first TE taken here, however I guess its likely that in a 10 team league with no TE premium. For this setup I think I like Fant more than Hock, but Hock should get some action first year.
2.09 (19) Ed Oliver, DT, Buf (MM)
2.10 (20) Justice Hill, RB, Bal (WOHO) I like it here. Extra good if Ingram owner
Toilet Bowl Champ
2.11 (21) Quinnen Williams, DT, NYJ (SL)
Round 3:
3.01 (22) Noah Fant, TE, Den (TP) Great Value
3.02 (23) Andy Isabella, WR, ARI (HURRICANE) Great Value
3.03 (24) Diontae Johnson, WR, PIT (STORM) Seems about the right spot for Johnson. I like the idea of investing in PIT WRs but they seem to always be drafted before here. Not sure how easy it is to carve out a role year 1, but PIT knows how to draft WRs
3.04 (25) Miles Boykin, WR, BAL (SL) Another nice value. I like him here. Should be able to get on the field
3.05 (26) Johnathan Abram, S, Oak (AJ)
3.06 (27) Devin Singletary, RB, BUF (HEYWOOD) Not bad, worried about next year's RB class
3.07 (28) Terry Mclaurin, WR, WAS (HURRICANE) If Haskins starts this year I like it, if not... well not sure if Was doens't bring someone else in next year
3.08 (29) Alexander Mattison, RB, MIN (SL) I hope its as a handcuff
3.09 (30) Jalen Hurd, WR, SF (MM) Seems like a little reach, but isn't that was 3rd round picks are for (though this is a 10 team IDP, think that makes this early)
3.10 (31) Dwayne Haskins, QB, WAS (TP) Seems like the right spot for him.
Round 4:
4.01 (32) Jeffery Simmons, DT, TEN (SL)
4.02 (33) Juan Thornhill, DB, KC (WOHO)
4.03 (34) Dexter Lawrence, DT, NYG (STORM)
4.04 (35) Clelin Ferrell, DE, OAK (BBWC)
4.05 (36) Josh Allen, DE, JAX (AJ)
4.06 (37) Darnell Savage, DB, GB (HEYWOOD)
4.07 (38) Bryce Love, RB, WAS (HURRICANE) Not sure he sees the field this year, next year he'll start working his way in.
4.08 (39) Brian Burns, DE, CAR (WOHO)
4.09 (40) Darwin Thompson, RB, KC (MM) LOVE IT!
4.10 (41) Chase Winovich, DE, NE (HURRICANE)
Overall I think there are a couple reaches and a few great values. But ultimately it depends on the team.
1:10 to 2.06 I feel like this group could have gone in any order. Would have liked to see some trade downs here.
Round 1:

BBWC killed it in this draft.
The Clock is Running and there are no Timeouts
Re: Rank this Rookie Draft (with IDP)...
Ah yes.. I lost the 10 team action as I dove into the draft/team drafts. It's partly that and partly I don't think Isabella should be going early 20s anyway. That's a topic for another thread.problemsolver wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 10:11 amIts a 10 team draft. Isabella in the early 20s of an IDP draft isn't that crazy. Re: Rank this Rookie Draft (with IDP)...
Appreciate all of the viewpoints! Especially since I am BBWC and the defending back to back champ.
Re: Rank this Rookie Draft (with IDP)...
Funny I made my choices before reading responses. SL & BBWC are who stuck out for me.
Re: Rank this Rookie Draft (with IDP)...
Agree Bbwc and Sl did well. A team that also stood out that hasn’t gotten any love in votes or comments is MM
Quietly picked nice value at the 9 spot every time. I’m a big ed Oliver fan, I think he’s close to anyone in this draft on the DL talent wise. Darwin nearly undrafted? I see him mid 2nd consistently. Not a big fan personally but that’s a stand out pick to me. DK at 9, we’ll see. I wasn’t in a draft position to solidify my take on DK. But he might be the highest ceiling guy in this draft, and 9 is about right I suppose. Hurd as a late 3rd is also a nice value imo

Re: Rank this Rookie Draft (with IDP)...
Agree on 1.9 draft; Good eye... I have DK ranked 1.2 and Hollywood ranked 1.3 so both went really late IMO. I also agree on Ed Oliver, fantasy wise DT's fall behind DE's depending on scoring system. Oliver is going to be a beast. NFL wise, I had him 1.3. Think he is a very unique talent with an incredible first step to go along with that strength. Actually thought he was the steal in the 1st round of the NFL draft. He has A. Donald type talent.honcho55 wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 12:53 am Agree Bbwc and Sl did well.
Hurd is more of gadget play ala C. Patterson. At 6'5" he runs like a RB and has a feel for zone coverage openings so we will see. Good vision but a long strider that isn't really fast or quick but very decisive which matters.
While the picks were good it's pretty obvious BBWC was moving all around the board so had enough assets to retool as opposed to 1.9 who just at there. I imagine both are solid teams going forward. No way of knowing the trades made with BBWC but the picks were spot on.
Looks like this league has a few teams short on experience but overall looks like a solid league.

Re: Rank this Rookie Draft (with IDP)...
FD is the clear winner for me maxxing out his pick with the best position player.
