There's no way it can HURT, to have him classified as a DT on an Internet depth chart. It can hurt if he actually switches and PLAYS as a DT in real life, but that won't be a website's decision.

Took over an orphan in a big league. Sadly, he was my 2nd best DE.

Today I realized I lost Hyder to DE designation in another league. :(

I get the Hyder thing, but wouldn't it be good to have Irving at DT where it's harder to find good talent?

Yes but it's a contract league and I have 2 big Dts signed.
