Su'a Cravens 2017 outlook

What's everyone's opinion on Cravens in 2017? Does he become a full time safety? I'm still pretty bullish on his upside, but haven't heard a lot in the IDP world about his expectations for year 2. I have to think Donte Whitner was just a 1 year rental while he learns the defense. If he's ready to go, I can see him in a similar role as Geathers. SS in base, LB in subs? Either way, I'm still high on the guy. Thoughts?

No sweat. If you go back out to the IDP subforum, you can search any player's name by using quotes:

"Su'a Cravens" will now turn up three different threads.

It appears to be all but settled that he will be a safety full time this year.

The big question is how much will Cravens play in the box, and does he play LB in the Nickel. At this point I can't say, but there is potential upside here. I like his game, though won't have high expectations for making an impact in the pass game.

DLF recently added an article that he has been officially moved to safety!

What do you guys think the odds are that he ends up in the box more often than not? Is there a chance up a Barron/Bucannon ala 2015 type DB?

I think there's a good chance he plays near the LOS a lot. He's not playing deep that's for sure. Last year Ihenacho, Bruton & Whitner all split time at SS. All had productive tackle opportunities.

I'd personally be selling Cravens if someone gives me a price assuming he is 100% going to be a DB and stay there. They needed SS help badly last year and chose to keep him as a 3rd ILB only in subpackages. I think he is a very good football player but 4.7 wheels against NFL WRs scare me. Especially since the Giants only run 3WR (and mostly shotgun) sets. Sounds like he will get a shot to play SS but he dabbled in it in training camp last year then didn't play a single snap at Safety. I think his better fit is at weakside linebacker. If I had to make vegas odds I would say -150 that he starts at SS in week 1. So it's the favorite but far from definite.

I'm still here. The needle hasn't moved.

Now that he's been traded to Denver, worth an add?
