Shazier vs Deion Jones
Is giving Deion Jones to get Ryan Shazier an immediate accept? For the long term and short term.

Re: No brainer?
Yes, I'm as a big of a believer in D Jones as anyone, but Shazier has the potential to be a special player. Just needs to stay healthy

Re: No brainer?
This is dead even for me. Shazier actually gives me more reason to worry than Jones. They both have the same special athletic qualities. I like the ATL situation better than PIT, and the injuries are very concerning.
I think this could go either way, but I'd rather take my chances with Jones.

Re: No brainer?
I def agree in regards to potential injury for Shazier and the seemingly better opportunity for tackles in ATL.
Seemed like a no brainer at first, but I obviously 2nd guessed that by posting this thread.

Re: No brainer?
I prefer Shazier. I know he can produce if healthy. I'm not sold on Jones.

Re: No brainer?
This is close for me too. On one hand you've got a player who has proven to produce when healthy vs a player inheriting a great situation but still unproven.
I tend to be more conservative when it comes to players with an injury history than most owners, I'm leaning Jones here.

Re: No brainer?
Shazier by a decent margin. Both have risk but Shazier has elite ceiling.

Re: No brainer?
Love D. Jones this year and for the future, but this is an easy accept for Shazier.

Re: No brainer?
What makes his ceiling higher? They are athletically similar (elite).breeze wrote:Shazier by a decent margin. Both have risk but Shazier has elite ceiling.

Re: No brainer?
Shazier is faster, bigger, more explosive and wiser. Only thing holding Shazier back is injuries. We still don't know if Deion can prevent getting bullied in the NFL or if he will develop the instincts needed to make the proper read consistentlyBruiser wrote:What makes his ceiling higher? Re: No brainer?
I have zero shares in either (disclaimer), so let me introduce this nugget. I've never visited this site before and have no idea where the rankings come from, but I know that Shazier has been listed as low as 230lb. That makes them same-same in size. Their combine metrics both grade at nearly the same level (both elite).
So, if I'm reading this mutrank report correctly, Shazier plays better downhill as MIKE, and Jones plays better in space (WLB?)

Re: No brainer?
Those look like Madden ratings. I'm not sure I consider Jones' metrics elite. He's fast for a LB but he still was only 4.6 with mediocre explosion/jumping results. Shazier much more athletic and more importantly a much better linebacker that understands the game. Deion could develop but it's not a sure thing. I have Shaz significantly higher than Jones for dynasty

I don't pretend to always be right. However, I love to stand on my own homework and stick my neck out. I hope that OP will change this thread to Shazier vs Deion Jones so that we can revisit each offseason for some hindsight.
