Preston Brown or 2017 2nd?

Postby bronx » Tue Jul 05, 2016 10:18 pm

This is for the first team in my signature.

I've got an owner that is pretty stacked (too stacked, actually) at the LB position, pretty short everywhere else, and interested in moving Brown for Snead.

Thing is, I'm not sure I necessarily need Brown. Or do I? Or would a 2017 2nd prove more beneficial? And this is where I'd really like some feedback.

For context, our league is scarily balanced, in terms of scoring. Brown was LB23, and the 98th overall scorer with 176.85 points last season. Snead was WR34, and the 157th overall scorer with 147.90 points.

So, with the above information and my roster below, should I be content with Brown? Should I take the 2017 2nd? Should I go nuts and ask for Barron (LB14)? Would anyone not trade Snead for any of the above?

I would much prefer the 2nd rounder to P. Brown.

I might actually lean towards Brown here. If you start 4 LBs your depth doesn't inspire me [especially Attaochu] and Brown is fairly reliable. He played 98% of snaps last year, the Ryans have been talking him up something chronic and the Bills stat crew is obviously a benefit. I'm not as high on Ragland as some.

Snead on the other hand seems a solid result BUT he's in a crowded situation. Cooks and Bad Michael Thomas could easily leap ahead of him for targets. As could Fleener. And we all know Brees is good enough to adjust his targets to what the D is giving him - that could make Snead tough to predict.

My current depth are definitely project players. I am hoping they step up once the opportunities present themselves with current starters departing, which may be right now for Whitehead with the official release of Tulloch. Still, I agree that I could use more reliable depth.

I also wholeheartedly agree on everything you've said about Snead. I picked him up off waivers and was pleasantly surprised by his production, but New Orleans is loaded at viable targets. Just plain loaded. This is why I want to deal him away.

I am leaning towards Brown, but I'd like to hear from more people, if possible. I think I'm considering the 2017 2nd so much because I don't have one (I do have four 2017 1sts, though).

I apologize, I neglected to notice you start 4 LBs! In that case, I agree take Brown.

Now I'll admit I'm a biased Preston Brown fan since last year, but I too think he will be a top 15 LB this year. He should be the highest scoring LB in Buffalo.
