Journey Brown vs. Isaiah Spiller

Postby invisibulman » Sun Apr 26, 2020 9:09 am

These are the top two RBs available in my league and I am planning to draft one of them. I keep bouncing back and forth between speed/production vs size/pedigree. Who do you like?

I might be gun shy because I had the same debate last year between Eno Benjamin and Chubba Hubbard... I got that one wrong.

journeyman brown's speed is being wildly misreported, unless his opponents + teammates all run 4.1s

here is what a 4.3 looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og0FeJLejdk

here is what a 4.5x looks like: https://youtu.be/LM_IRIR8c1Q?t=93

when he got in the open field there is zero discernible acceleration and nearly everyone on screen is gaining on him.

Lol, I knew that would be the clip you cited . . . he clearly slows down waiting for his blocker ahead of him (which was obviously a mistake in hindsight). before he decelerates, he was pulling away from that guy easily.

not my fault that is his only breakaway run. if you're outrunning someone why would you need to wait for a blocker? he's got pretty good speed but he's not even 4.4

We had our draft. Turns out I didn't even get to debate... Isaiah Spiller went 1.01 ahead of Rashod Bateman. I took Journey Brown at 1.03.

Other RBs drafted:
1.06 Kendall Milton
1.10 Kenny Gainwell
1.11 Bijan Robinson
1.12 Zach Evans
1.14 Marshawn Lloyd
1.17 Tank Bigsby
1.18 Jase McClellan

Safe to assume most of the top RBs were already owned.

ran 100m in 10.43, which is the state record (on a rainy day, no less). putting pads on doesnt make that disappear completely, lol. Ran a 4.29 last off-season at PSU, even if you add a whole tenth of a second to account for home-cooking of the numbers, that puts him under 4.40.

Sad sad news a while back. Had him in a few of my Devy leagues. Wish we could have see what he could do. Good luck to him in his future endeavors
I only play in 16x53 with 10+ taxi size leagues with full IDP. All are PPR and most value return yardage. So my opinions may be skewed To these deep roster leagues.
