Mock from a Mock

Postby growskey23 » Sat Apr 25, 2015 9:01 am

Lance Zierlein and Chad Reuter recently did a 7 round mock draft for the NFL draft. I thought it would be fun to do a mock draft following this draft as if these were the landing spots for the rookies.

Find the 7 round mock here: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000 ... ft-round-1

Lets do a standard 12-team 1 QB league. Please include what team they got drafted to.

1.01 - Todd Gurley RB Baltimore
1.02 - Amari Cooper WR Oakland
1.03 - Kevin White WR Chicago
1.04 - Melvin Gordon RB Dallas
1.05 - DeVante Parker WR Cleveland

1.07 - Jaelen Strong WR Carolina
1.08 - Breshad Perriman WR Houston
1.09 - Dorial Green-Beckham WR Tennessee
1.10 - Tevin Coleman RB Minnesota
1.11 - Nelson Agholor WR New Orleans
1.12 - Duke Johnson RB Arizona

1.01 Todd Gurley RB Georgia/ Baltimore Ravens

Hard not to take an elite RB prospect Knowing this is his landing spot. This GM knows talent.

1.02 Amari Cooper WR Oakland Raiders

Going to get a lion's share of the Oakland targets, of which, I think they'll be throwing a lot.

1.04-Melvin Gordon-RB-Dallas Cowboys

Think this is a no brainer. My #2 back and behind that Dallas line I think you can pencil him in for 1500yds if he stays healthy.

1.05 D. Parker Cle. Hate the landing spot but drafting talent over situation. Cleveland will eventually get a competent QB right??

1.08 DGB Titans

If DGB goes 1st pick of the 2nd rd, I'm buying. Slides right into #1 role. I am concerned that he really has no one to learn from there, but Titans should be throwing, ALOT.

I thought about him. Probably would have looking back. Tennessee seems to be just a terrible run organization lately. That scared me.. who will guide DGB to greatness there.. good argument. They'll be throwing. Talent in the first two rounds.

What I thought was positive is that because there is no real offensive identity, it could be curtailed to him. Alot of if's here. I think big picture is he has been generally mocked from 1.04-1.08 for 6 months now without playing for a year, off-field issues and talks or rumors of him going in the first 2 rounds after all that. That speaks alot to me.

1.10 I will go with RB Tevin Coleman with MN. Assuming AP is gone and hope Coleman is the right fit in a young team. With the large WR drop off I did not see much value in WR so going with a stud RB in a good situation. (I did consider WR Agholor with the Saint here tho but went with the RB instead)

1.11 - Nelson Agholor WR New Orleans

There are a ton of targets up for grabs in NO and I think Agholor will show that he will be open enough and that HOFer Brees can trust him to get open with his polished route running. I might even think of him a little higher if he lands here.

1.12 Duke Johnson RB Arizona

I'm not that high on him, but plenty are and this would be a good landing spot. I'm definitely higher on Johnson than I am on Ellington.
