Re: Best way to do an auction
One way to maintain that auction structure but minimize the last minute bidding or people just trying to drive up the price on others is to decrease the cap and the number of bidding increments, making every monetary unit more valuable. For example, a $200 cap with $1 increments for a 20-man roster....

Re: Best way to do an auction
Delayed and last minute bidding are viable strategies in such a set up. It sounds like the problem was unrealistic expectations and unreasonable impatience by several owners.

Re: Salary Cap Methodology Debate
His method is more realistic but very difficult to manage. My SC league tried something similar back in the day but gave up on it as it was just too much work for the commish. Of course, we had a hard cap, not a soft cap. So his may be more workable in that regards.

Re: Taxi Squad in Salary Cap league
In my old sal cap league, we had a taxi squad for up to 6 players. The # of contract years did not go down for players on the TS but the annual contract $ increase still applied. So a player with a $1.00 / 3 yr contract on the TS would have his contract go to a $1.30 / 3 yr contract at the end of th...

Re: A question...
While I like the idea, NFL teams do not have the capacity to do this as easy as you may assume. Such a giving of a bonus to take advantage of available cap space is only done by signing said player to a renegotiated contract that supplants the previous contract. However, under the newest Collective ...

Re: RSO or MFL?
What changes have you requested MFL to make that they have done for you? Over the course of 15+ years -- automating cap hits when cutting a player (and now, increasing amount of cap hit based on # of contract years), adding punter stats, adding a teams special teams position separate from team defe...

Re: RSO or MFL?
Which is the better platform to host a contract league; Reality Sports Online or My Fantasy League? RSO looks pretty sweet, especially their system to compare free agent contract offers of varying lengths. However, as of last year there was no customization of rules. You had to use their setup. Bec...

Re: Advice for starting up a salary cap league
I like Donnie's rules, but have a quick question re: dropping players under contract. Do you apply a penalty to a team that releases a player with X amount of years remaining? If so, what? thanks- Yes, and I just got myfantasyleague.com to add an option to automate this. In my league, the cap hit f...

Re: What do you prefer for a startup draft? Auction or norma
I'm forming a new salary cap contract league and am definitely going auction, with the winning bid price equalling the initial salary for the contract. However, I want rookie contracts to be undervalued generally compared to veteran contracts (it replicates the NFL, and encourages building your rost...

Re: Advice for starting up a salary cap league
In my SC league anyone acquired via waivers has the price they are bid for as their salary for the rest of the season, however they are only on your team for that season unless you tag them, otherwise they go into the FA draft along with anyone whose contract expires for the following year. Yes, th...

Re: Contract rules
Ditto. Contract dollar amount = current year salary and salary increases10% annually for the life of the contract.
