Re: Standard Forum vs Premium

I've spent 2 years making over 1,500 posts in this forum. I'd like to think I've contributed something and added to others experiences here as many long time posters have for me. Whether we're right or wrong or argue like crazy isn't the point, the point is we make each other think and thats the im...

Re: Standard Forum vs Premium

To be honest, I think having a premium forum is an absolute joke. These message boards aren't busy enough with posts to split up those who pay vs. those who don't. By all means continue posting here because I don't think there's enough good dynasty league conversation the web. So thank you to all th...

Re: Can we talk Ronnie Hillman?

I try not to do a draft board based purely on team needs. That's how mistakes get made, in my opinion. Also, I forgot Lamar Miller, who I would likely put 18th ahead of Hillman, but I could be talked out of that. As for Jenkins, I fully expect Moss and Manningham to be elsewhere in 2013 and Crabtree...

Re: When to hold a rookie draft?

We tend to do ours after the second or third preseason game. It's not necessarily my preference despite being the commissioner, but we have a good group of about eight owners and two who aren't the greatest, but we want owners that we know and get along with so our hands are tied. The later draft te...

Re: 1.08 Owners

Just like last year when I had the 10th pick, this is no-man's land. I would have taken Cam Newton 10th last year, but he went with the ninth pick. Staring at the 8th pick, I feel like it's a seven-player draft with a jumbled up mess afterward. I own picks 8, 11 and 17. Our draft isn't done until th...

Re: Handcuffs

The thought that many handcuffs are a waste of space is just a silly notion. Just this past season, I had to deal with Arian Foster's injury (I traded for Ben Tate a few weeks before, so I was lucky there), AP going down (I decided against trading for Toby Gerhart because I didn't see the upside ......

Re: Best Move of 2011

As soon as LeShoure and Williams got hurt last year, I traded out of the first round (10th overall) for a 2012 first-rounder (No. 8 overall), second-rounder (No. 17) and Ben Tate (I own Foster). The 10th pick ended up being Kendall Hunter, whom I like, but I believe I'll get a much better player at ...

Re: Value of 2012 rookie picks?

I'm still not sure how to interpret "carry more weight" in the original poster's statement above, but as far as what you can sell the pick for, I think it is going to be less because people can get the same level of player at a later pick this year. -oo- All I mean is do you think these p...

Re: Value of 2012 rookie picks?

What do you guys think about the value of this years rookie picks? Particularly the 2nd round? Are they carrying more weight than usual with a deep draft class? Here's another way to look at this -- my strategy is to trade up to that point in the draft where I think I can get the players I want - i...

Re: The Love of Locker

I was able to sell Locker for Donald Brown, Jaquizz Rodgers, and Blaine Gabbert. I was pretty happy with that haul for an unproven guy. Then again, I have Aaron Rodgers, so I dont have a huge qb need. Rotoworld has Locker rated as the 15th dynasty QB, and I was a little shocked by that. He was ahea...

Re: 2013 Draft Prospects

I think this years draft will be as deep of one based on talent that we have had for a few years and might not see again for a few more... I agree 100 percent. I own the 8th, 11th and 17th picks in this year's draft and I have little interest right now in moving them. To me, this draft isn't loaded...

Re: Value of 2012 rookie picks?

Oh, and I meant to add that I hoped to trade for Vereen at midseason when it appeared Ridley had moved ahead, but the Vereen owner wanted a second-rounder in return. That was too rich for me considering Vereen had shown absolutely nothing. I still have no idea quite where to rank those two. I think ...

Re: Value of 2012 rookie picks?

Tim, I'm really intrigued by some of the later round RB's like Cyrus Gray and Isaiah Pead. I think they could be tremendous value in the 2nd round. I'd have to do way more research though before I'd feel comfortable advocating for them as potential stars. Hey, Ridley wasn't too bad though, right? R...

Re: Value of 2012 rookie picks?

I like the point the guy made above. The draft is your chance to get good players for cheap. Sure, there's a big chance to miss out on the pick, but I'd rather take that chance then spend it on a mid-level player (unless I need to use that pick in-season during a playoff push). This year, I have pic...
